Anyone use the double bucket at HD?

Hey guys! I just made a big score! The buckets I got where free!

:bounce

I called the local Stop and Shop (any grocery store with a bakery shop will have them) and asked if they had any plastic buckets that they where going to throw away. They said "Sure!! How many do you want" (SHWING!! :shocked ) I said two would be fine. :xyxthumbs

When I got there, they had the buckets in the picture below, complete with covers (Excellent seats for side panel work and you can make a sling shot with the "O" rings in the lids for pigeons!! Just kidding :nono )

The tall one is your run of the mill 5 gallon type. The short one is a 40 pound "Wonderglaze" bucket. Do NOT put this on your finish! It's for donuts and the first ingredient is sugar.

I rinsed them out last night and put Dawn in the buckets with water and let them sit over night. This morning I rinsed them out really well to get rid of all the sugar. (if you really are silly, get a 5 gallon paint bucket liner for a couple of bucks at the hardware store paint section)

Just thought I'd share!:

I like the basic white 5 gln buckets, I have the rinse bucket sprayed a couple passes with black spray paint to be able to tell them apart as I'm using both. It seems to me that the CMA and Griots buckets just may not equal the dirt seperating ability that the height of the 5 gln bucket offers. I have to wonder if the screen insert leaves enough work room above itself, based on where it sits, can any one using it comment on that and on how the casters are working out? My ideal bucket would be a standard 5 gln with casters and a screen 6" off of the bottom of both the wash and rinse. Meguiars ultimate organizer would be perfect if it only held two buckets.

I usually use boar's hair brushes and the 5 gallon buckets are too narrow for them. So, I've used the Griot's buckets for years (since Griot first offered them) and they work well for me. The casters hold up fine. I did remove the screens due to concerns similar to yours.

A company called Sporty's Tool Shop (I forget the phone number, but they're on the 'net) has a product called the "bucket buggy"- a plastic base with casters that holds a 5 gallon bucket (and others of a similar size). The casters even have a locking lever. Very nice and not too expensive.

I saw the Home Depot yellow bucket. Very similar to Griot's only it was described as a window washer's bucket. I might break down and buy one soon. ($18.95) Looks like it can hold alot of stuff after you're done washing.

Wow, This is a pretty long thread to discuss a few buckets, so I guess I'll comment too. :p

Take care everyone.....V
