Anyone use the double bucket at HD?

I was at Home Depot yeaterday and saw a bucket with two compartments in one bucket. My concern is that it looked like the 2 compartments only held 2 gal each of water. Not sure if this is enough. It would however be nice to only drag one bucket around yet still use the two bucket method.

I bought that bucket from HD too, I carry my detailing supplies in it when not washing. The double bucket doesn't hold enough water. I bought a nice white pail from Walmart for around 2 or $3 to hold the rinse water.

okay, what am I missing? Are you dunking the sponge in the clean water before dunking in the sudsy water? I imagine to remove any possible grit. Or is this some other secret technique. Please don't tell me I have to buy something because my MC is maxed out because of this site. LOL

That CMA bucket is the same as the HD one minus the hooks and casters. Glad I was just able to go and pick one up, I have already spent too much money on shipping and handling

a flat driveway has its drawbacks too, like puddles that stay for days after washing your car.

I have a nice blend of flat where needed and the rest is really steep, all this talk has me running to HD to check this bucket out. What a bunch of wackos we are

I bought one of those too. Then CMA added a blue one to thier site for 20 bucks.

Yeah, CMA posted that a few months after I bought mine at HD. Might have to pick up a 2nd to have a matching pair. But they won't match exactly, so maybe a 3rd. Casters are kool !! And cheaper than griots (go figure :p )

Oh to have a flat driveway! The wheels would be SO NICE, but with my driveway it would be doing about 60 before it even hit the street.

LOL... "So, what's the 0-60 on your bucket ?"

Why Thank you :D

Actually, I PREFER for the buckets to NOT match exactly. Makes it easier to tell which is which (after dunking a few times, the rinse bucket starts to look as soapy as the wash solution bucket).

I use the blue HD bucket for the soap and water and the big white pail for the rinse water--can easily see dirt and grit, know when its time to change the rinse water. Anyone use two mitts when washing?

Very good point.

I'm going to use the one I've been using strickly for the lower half of the car and a new one for the upper portions. I've read threads where someone was using 3 (upper, middle, lower).

Yeah, sorta. For the top parts, I usually use two Boar's Hair Brushes- one in each hand. Goes a little faster since I rinse them out after (at least) every half-panel, sometimes after  every swipe. IMO, it's all that rinsing that keeps the BHB's from marring my finish. Then there's all the other stuff (mitts, brushes) for the lower parts, nooks and crannies, etc.

The only cars I use mitts on are *PAMPERED*, as in siphon-feed wash solution pumped through the mitt from the inside (and I still flush out the mitt frequently). I go through about 3-4 mitts each time I do this, replacing whenever I see residual dirt still stuck to the mitt after the rinsing. Don't ask how long THAT wash process takes :o

A single, large partitioned bucket sounds like a good idea on paper, and would be easier to tote around, but what if you want to change out the rinse water.....

May your detailing days be filled with clear blue skys....(flute plays in the background while a gentle breeze passes)

I usually change it 3 times.

I just picked up the HD 5 gal, round, orange bucket for 3 or 4 bucks. I guess I'm not as picky to use rinse water, but the 5 gal, rectangle bucket was over $22.00 .

The heavy stuff should fall to the bottom of my new bucket and stay there as long as I don't stir it all back up.
