i just recieved a brand new cell phone that is from t-mobile (dad and sister decided to go with verizon), and was wondering where i should go to unlock it, so i can use it (i use cingular). any idea where to go, how much, what is should be aware of, and the cheapest place to do it? thanks! :)

It depends if the phone is Cingular compatible. :nixweiss

dang... i didn't even think of that. i believe it is, as it holds a sim card like the cingular phones..

It will work just fine I have a friend who has a cingular phone with a T-mobil sim card. He had a buddy who worked for cingular who unlocked the phone for him. I'm not sure if they will do it for you but mabe you can get an employee who's willing to do it for a few bucks on the side.

thanks guys for the replies... i found a small cellular place that un-locked it for $20 flat, and i got it back within a few hours! :)

Hmmm, that's a little on the high side as I know places in town here will do it for $15.00 and it takes about 5 minutes. In the future try this site and do it yourself. I did it with one of my phones. You can also do a search on the internet for unlocking cell phones as there are several sites. Some free and others for as little as $5.00:

:werd: I did that with my Nokia 6310i.

The beauty of going with Verizon - they disable all the cool features of the phone. I wonder if that phone unlocking stuff can make my phone have all the cool features.

hey barry.. i have the galaxy II and want to get the new galaxy III but there's probably not that much of a difference where i couldn't just download most apps that the III already has (there's still may be some things that it may not have but it's not that big of a deal). besides with cell phones/electronics, the latest and greatest will be considered old within 6 months (quarterly) or so as technology with cell phones/electronics rapidly changes. hope all is well buddy!
