anyone know where i can adjust the pressure on a gas pressure washer?

friend is moving so hes letting me hang on to his pressure washer.



its a be GX200 washer. spits out 2700psi of water.



does anyone know where i might find the adjustment knob on it? looked over manual and cant seem to find it.



also comes with a soaper tip, anyone know how to use it? doesnt have a tank to hold soap
 
Usually a adj screw on the pump, but the mfgs always say not to mess with them. I did and would like to know how to adj for max pressure. I suppose you could install a pressure gauge on the pump someplace (liq filled ga).



Anyone?????

the cheaper pressure washers which are usually those 25-2700 PSI models with the axial cam pumps usually have no way of adjusting the pressure. Just use the right spray tip at the right distance for your needs.
 
any problem shooting 2700psi at a car? i own a sl55 and i detail a 348 ferrari often and both paints are very soft. dont want to be stripping it.



i know some people use gas heated pressure washers.

As long as you don't hold the tip less than 1" from the surface, you are fine. After you get about 2 feet away there is hardly any extreme pressure. Have you noticed how the spray basically turns to mist after about 6'?

Knowing that your max flow is 3 GPM, you can see that to output 2000-2500 psi you would need a 4.0 sized tip, for 1500 a 5.0 and for 1000 a 6.0. All PW tips have a 4 or 5 digit code. The first two refer to the angle of the fan. For example, a 25 degree tip would read 25XXX. The last 2 or three numbers are the orifice size. So if you wanted a 25 degree fan outputting 1500 PSI you would want a 2550 tip. You can buy these for cheap at any PW supply site. All you need is the 1/4 meg tip and a 1/4 fpt plug and you have a properly sized quick connect tip.

Here are some ideas:



1. Post a photo of the pump on the washer, the adjustment should be on the pump a nice sized adjustment knob. If not, you cannot adjust that way.



2. Throttle down the washer, less rpms less pressure



3. Use a wide pattern spray say 45 deg



4. Find the owners manual online, what you have listed is the engine the Honda gx200



5. Buy new nozzles that allow more gpm
