Anyone know how Novus #1 compares to Plexus?

Hooked For Life
Recently visited my Harley dealer and asked for Novus. They only had #1 and no Plexus. I was hoping to get 1,2,3 and Plexus.

Any way, I took what they had. Seems Novus #1 is similar to Plexus in it cleans and shines more so than removes scratches. Does anyone have Plexus and Novus #1? How do the two compare?

Also, how does Novus 1,2,3 compare to Meg's plastic polishes. The Meg's polishes are a lot easier to get locally.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

As far as I have HEARD, Plexus is quite different than Novus #1. #1 seems to be just a light and runny cleaner - almost like a QD for plastic, while people who have used Plexus comment on it having mild polishing or hiding abilities, as well as coating the plastic in a protective layer of some kind.

Thanks 4DSC, I'm going to continue to try to get the other Novuses and the Plexus as well then.

I have the Novus products. #1 is basically just a light cleaner. #2 is the one I use most. It will definitely remove light and medium scratches from plastic, leaving it sparkling. I use it for instrument panels, headlights and other lenses. Used it a few days ago on my sunroof wind deflector thing; it looks brand new. I've used the Meguiars once, but it seemed to be more for extremely light scratches, and not for "normal" exterior lens scratches from everyday driving.

#3 is for heavy scratches. Does a very good job, but you'll need to follow up with #2 to remove the haziness/very light scratches left from it. #2 doesn't need followed up with anything.

I haven't tried Plexus, mainly because I'm more than satisfied with the Novus.

From a Novus bottle, call (800)548-6872 for the distributor nearest you. I drive 30 miles each way for mine from an industrial plastics company (I consolidate trips, so I do pick up other things).

So far, I've used Plexus, Novus 1, and Zaino plastic polish. Novus 1 & Z have never done as well as Plexus. I have a hunch maybe Plexus doesn't really "polish," but (I remember hearing somewhere) may have some hiding properties. And Plexus gives more shine for me than Z or Novus 1. I think I need to try Novus 2 and/or 3 for my stubborn scratches.

In a related thread, I'm keeping an eye on this one: http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=249831#post249831 -- Pretty impressive pix from MildSeven using Novus. And he mentions a source for a "sample kit" of Novus 1, 2, & 3:

I got this small size novus #3,2,1 (Novus Polish sampler) from http://www.airsource1.com/. it's good size for me.

Edit: I went to the website. Here's the page specifically for the sampler kit: http://www.airsource1.com/catalog.cgi?c=OIL,FILTER,WASH&i=NOVKIT2

I've used novus #1 and #2 on my tail lights and instrument cluster and like it, though i havn't used plexus so i can't compare. I like the novus product and am happy :).

Thanks everyone for the info.

I'm going to try the 800# again, person who could direct me to a local place was out. I called a few spa stores in the meantime but they only have a sealant type product.

Will probably wind up getting the sample kit or the #2 and 3 online.

Sounds like Novus is one of the best plastic polishes for automotive purposes out there.

You can get novus at lots of motorcycle shops, particularly Harley shops. I don't know where in NJ you are, but I've seen it at Herley shops in Bloomfield and Clifton. Call around and see.

Harley in Highland Park only had #1, I got it, called Novus and they directed me to a place in Dayton. Called them, they have 1,2,3 I 'll try to visit them next.
