Anyone interested in Metabos?

I've begun discussions directly with Metabo about carrying their polisher, but before I move forward I was curious as to who would have any interest:idea

Stephan, I think he wants to know who would buy one.
I've got one and it's OK. It's light but the on/off switch is goofy and it's not variable speed and if you use the side handle it's in an awkward to use.

thats what I meant I would buy one...

What do you mean its not variable speed? Do you mean it just has set speeds and no in between or only one speed? I thought they were supposed to be like one of the best rotary polishers out there...I like the fact that they are light and I liked the first speed setting on it is like 700 rpm as opposed to mine which is 1000 and mine is heavy...

It's definitely variable speed and does start at 700 and goes up to 2200 (1-6) ... it's light weight and has a very comfortable handle, it also comes with a 3 year warranty and is super stable and quiet.
It also comes with an extention and knuckle guard.
The on/ off is a little awkward but one thing that they just added to these machines was a safety off..if you happen to lose power or unplug it while on, it will not start again until you turn it off and then on again ..no surprises ;)

I picked one up a few weeks ago for 209 shipped. They've gone up to 239+shipping where I bought it from though. I might have to rifle through my box. I didn't see an extension, just the knuckle guard.

I will echo Poorboy's statement about it being variable speed. It most certainly is.

maybe the extension he just means the side handle...

Mine the switch is either on or off and it has a dial for different speeds, but the there is no variable trigger like a DeWalt or a Makita.

But the dial is variable. Your speed increases as you dial it up or down, not just when you reach a number (1 to 2, for instance).

Thats what I wanted to know...thanks!!!

My problem is the PC 7428 I have while it has never broken, unlike my Flex thankyou is just heavy, while 3 pounds is not alot of difference, when your holding it for a few hours that makes a difference...

Does the Metabo have the soft start? Without a variable trigger I would think it must have a soft start? Does any one know for sure?

What do you define soft start as? When I flip on the metabo it just starts ramping up to the set speed.

Soft start is where you depress the trigger and nothing happens momentarily and then it starts. I hated it at first, but now I use that split second to ensure I have turned the speed back down..which I have forgotten to do on occasion.

I do not believe the Metabo has soft start. I can fire mine up tonight to be doubly sure.

From the last time I used my Metabo (been months) I seem to recall that it does have a reduced power start. It ramps up to speed and definitely takes a little bit of getting used to.
