Stephan, I think he wants to know who would buy one.
I've got one and it's OK. It's light but the on/off switch is goofy and it's not variable speed and if you use the side handle it's in an awkward to use.
thats what I meant I would buy one...
What do you mean its not variable speed? Do you mean it just has set speeds and no in between or only one speed? I thought they were supposed to be like one of the best rotary polishers out there...I like the fact that they are light and I liked the first speed setting on it is like 700 rpm as opposed to mine which is 1000 and mine is heavy...
I picked one up a few weeks ago for 209 shipped. They've gone up to 239+shipping where I bought it from though. I might have to rifle through my box. I didn't see an extension, just the knuckle guard.
maybe the extension he just means the side handle...
Mine the switch is either on or off and it has a dial for different speeds, but the there is no variable trigger like a DeWalt or a Makita.
But the dial is variable. Your speed increases as you dial it up or down, not just when you reach a number (1 to 2, for instance).
Does the Metabo have the soft start? Without a variable trigger I would think it must have a soft start? Does any one know for sure?
What do you define soft start as? When I flip on the metabo it just starts ramping up to the set speed.
Soft start is where you depress the trigger and nothing happens momentarily and then it starts. I hated it at first, but now I use that split second to ensure I have turned the speed back down..which I have forgotten to do on occasion.
