Anyone have any experience with these people?

Scott,

This guy is so cocky that you almost WANT one of his franchises to try and move in on your "market" just to see the crash and burn.

Anthony

In my experience, when people get agressive like that they fear somthing. Id like to know what it is. I dont beleive there is any excuse to be that abusive to people.

And how are they so big, they keep on going on about their size (male preoccupation maybe?) I dont remember them being in fortune or another business magazine.

Anyway, ill just go back to applying my S100.

Yeah and Supercuts was supposed to put all hair salons out of business...wish I could get my wife to go there:lol:

These guys can only pick select markets....around here you could never get the help to do the work and if you did you better be multi-lingual:rolleyes:

He is not only rude, but he MUST stay on the road..

....probably for fear.

Yeah, there is one here in New Braunfels Tx. Actually they are really well equipped. They drive a bright yellow dually and another even bigger truck around town.

However I still do not know how they make it since the side of their truck advertises $7.00 car washes. I charge anywhere from three to five times that much for a wash and I'm still in business.

I do not make a living detailing cars like some of the members here. I just enjoy working on my cars. That said, after reading about Mr. Winslow, I would never take my car to his establishment.

Competition is the cornerstone of a free market. Making threats that he will put others out of business is down right unprofessional. Nevertheless, the market he is after is not the same market most members work in....Andrew

As Roger Rabbit would say...

What a Maroon

Lance Winslow has no class whatsoever!

They make their money not from the detailing but from selling the Franchise.

I've seen schemes like this before, sometimes it works out for the franchisee, alot of the times it doesnt.

Fact is they dont care.

Theyre not after 'dominating the market' but simply to sell more franchises and make more $$$$ for themselves.

They skirt the law and just rip off alot of folks.

No GOOD self respecting businessman would act the way he did if he wanted to truly runa BIG business.

Another example of a small business with a small business attitude.

Its just a shame he makes his money off the backs of hard working ordinary people.

You mean like Ziebart? They were in and out of the Dallas area in a few years. The detail shop near me has had 3 owners in the last 5 years.

The competition doesn't control my success, I do.

Was that thread for real??? What a jerk!!! I hate people that act like "Big Shots"!! Why some of these people think that they are so great is beyond me!!

Wants to come to town to "break" people?

Just bring it!!!:angry :angry

If you guys click on the links provided by a few folks there it appears that Mr. Winslow got in a bit of trouble with the FTC for bad business practices.

The next thing we will see is a Dateline Investigation of the company.

Anthony

Wow, let me say whats on my mind.

That guy has some pair of balls. I actually got really mad reading that. That guy is nothing more then a wanna be! He thinks by talking down to you it will make you re-think the subject but all he did is make matters worse. I would never invest my money with someone who acts like that with a potential customer.

If that guy ever spoke to me like that and spoke of my family in a matter i did not like, things would get out of control.

Screw him and his so called company.

I am still mad from reading that, but i have nothing else to say that would be allowed on the forum.

:D

My new shop is doing quite well.

It is located in a zip code that is in the 97th percentile (household income +/- $114,000) of all in US.

There is vacant space adjacent to my shop... C'mon, Lance, be next door;

Take a shot...

Jim

Jim,

That's great to hear! I don't think $5 hand washes would make it one week in an area like yours. People with money, who have the mind set of, "You get what you pay for", would be very suspicious of a hand wash for $5 or even $7.

Anthony

Even if he was an honorable businessman........He started all his carwash theatrics in my home town, doubt if he'll ever be back !!!

I have to tell you though, he HAD the market here, for quite some time, but started **** with the city council and they more or less shut him down.....Thanks to him though, my job here is harder to accomodate future clients....

This thread will explain it far better than I could. Hold on to your seats folks, it gets rough.

Anyone heard of this guy, his company or had any dealings with him?? Just curious.

I have heard of him and had a good laugh while perusing his website. Has anyone actually taken a second to look at the content from his "competitor" section. This guy has the balls to take pictures of operators and post them with obnoxious comments and captions beside them. IMHO this guys is a real legend - in his own mind. I have spoken with a few people who have met Lance in the flesh and that letter is an accurate representation of his business practices and behaviour. Guys like this will always come and go and some (like Lance) will even be around for a while - just ignore idiots like this and go one being a professional and learn what NOT to do from him.

Uh oh - I think if he reads this I might get put in his database and have a terrible toll exacted upon me when he moves into my market!

OMG.

I'm sorry I had to have a read of Winslows website.

After reading about the 'founder' I was fully expecting it to say he could leap tall buildings in a single bound and cure all known illnesses.

Apparently hes been an undefeated Olympic junior champ, pedalled 1500 miles in 6 days and also a 'motocycle street racer'.

This all while being chairman/president of several 'important' official bodies etc.

Every dispute hes had, hes either won or the governing body has 'changed its mind' to agree with his way of seeing things.

LOL .....

I'm sorry but how does he find the time to fit it all in ???

It proudly boasts he's visited every town with a population of 15,000 or over in the US.

I just have to ask :

WHY ????????

O well.

**edit**

Oops I nearly forgot - he says hes 'directly descended' from a bunch of US Presidents, Vice presidents and even Winston Churchill.

Which is pretty damn difficult seen as Churchill was born well after the US had been established.

Maybe hes 145th in line to the Throne of England too.
