Hey all! This is my first post but I got a couple of questions. My biggest one that I just cant figure out is this thing with baby diapers. On dark colored cars, should you use a diaper to whipe wax off with or not? I have seen yes and no answers to this minute question but someone please help me out.

If you want to waste all that money go ahead, we all know they arn't cheap.

It's more of an "exotic" way to detail, not very practical. Unless you can used the "old" diapers ;)

Just use a soft towel and you'll be just as happy.

We're not really too big on diapers here. I'd stick with a towel that has a good sized nap to trap in dirt without re-grinding it back into your paint.....something like a high quality MF or high quality 100% cotton towel.

I have a sizable stack of cotton diapers and their price was far far less than a good microfiber towel. You could pay as much as $6.00/towel with MF's if you are not in a group buy. Diapers are nowhere near that price.

I like them for product application and final polishing but not for product removal or general cleaning. There is no nap to diapers to collect dust or dirt and that stuff can be dragged around the paint.

So diapers so have their uses but there are many other tools that do a great job as well.

So old cotton diapers are the way to get then not the new ones? So I guess I was wrong about they will scratch the paint, huh?

Diapers are one time use only, even though microfibers are expensive, you don't need to throw them away now do you???

Diapers are old news man, get a towel or microfiber.............

I started researching the products that other detailers in my area use and I ran into products from 3M to Mark V. In my research I see that Mark V suggests that their sealants be applied with a high speed polisher because the heat helps cure the sealant to the paint. In fact they state that applying with heat will increase the longevity. Does anyone have experience with Mark V or any other product that applied with heat such as these?

Curious.

I have used Mark V products. They are very nice. There MV 350 Quick Cut and there UNO polish both use non-diminshing abrasives and finish quite nicely (albeit with a little filling).

I have two bottles or their sealant (blue stuff) that I have never used but I have read the directions (regarding buffing with heat). I spoke to a chemist friend who explained that some polymers will cure better/more completely with heat, although the benefits are only slightly great than negligible.

Sorry I cannot answer your question more completely but I hope this helps somewhat.

Todd, that's a great reply. Thanks. I was more interested in the sealant that this particular shop uses but they won't disclose it. The only thing they would say is it's from Florida. Well that narrows it down.

As far as the polishes go, I'm not about to jump ship on Menzerna and Meg because having multiple polishes won't help my game.

I have many Mark-V bottles in my arsenal. MV 350, UNO, Glisten, Phase V, IP100, IP200, Cherry Dazzle, their carnauba and many others. My favourites are UNO and IP100.

Give them a try since they are cheap and does what it says on the lable.
