Anyone Ever Do #20 - #7- #26 ?

Anyone ever do #20 - #7- #26 then top it off

with some nice #34 FI.



I'm a One Grand man but I was thinking this may look wild.



The UV and reflectivity of #20 and the oilyness of #7 and #26.



Whatyas think of this combo?
 
I've done #20 - #26 - #34. It looked good. Actually, it looked great. I didn't really care for the #34, though. One Grand Show Off worked much better and didn't streak.
 
This sounds interesting. I am wondering how much of the #20 will be noticeable after the #7, in other words do the oils in #7 allow much shine to come through. You could probably substitute the #20 for BF or UPP. Has anyone put #7 over BF or UPP.
 
I've never used #7 before, but I'd try doing that under #20 instead. I still say glazes will wipe out waxes/sealants... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! :p

Let's see if the #7 will eat at or affect the #20 in any way.



I will email Meguiar' s and see if they would sanction

this combo.

I called Meguiar's and the nice fella said that the glaze

will eat/wipe out the #20.



Well it sounded pretty in theory.

Thats strange because its made to layer with #26 and I thought #20 was stronger than #26?



I have done the #20-#26-#7-#26 before and didn't seem to have a problem? I don't know. :nixweiss



Meguiar's has always lack in the explanation of its products. :nono
 
# 7 is abrasive and will remove #20. The oil's also serve kind of like "make-up" so I don't know why you would even bother putting down #20 first......

With your #20-#26-#7-#26 I think he was stressing that

the #7 will eat your #26 as well as your #20 .

Yeah Detail,



I found topping a few different brands of sealants with carnauba's

gives you the reflectivity under the carnauba's warnth. I felt

throwing the glaze into the equation would only enhance the

wet look. What I like about topping a polymer is that the car

looks candy coated under the night lights and converts during

the day to have that warm carnauba candle look.



Another big reason for the #20 under coat was the UV protection.
 
Thought 7 contained no abrasives, really cant see it removing 20, may reduce the 20s ability to protect.



I have had great results topping atoglym super resin and extra gloss with no 7, and then waxing with P21s, 26, or blitz.



Have 20 but never used it on paint just on my rims, 20 has cleaners that will remove no 7. I say try it, but dont expect the 20 to last as long as it would just topped with 26.

According to the archives, 3M IHG strips stuff because of its solvents.



Mothers chemist said their Sealer and Glaze strips Klasse because of its solvents.



Meguiar's #7....? ;) Seeing as how a lot of similar products are broadly similar from a composition point of view....



EDIT: I also recall Polaris saying how #7 stripped off his Klasse coats in a post not long ago.
 
I just used the meguiar's three step cleaner and polish, then a coat of gold class wax, and at the reccomendation of the store clerk, finished with a coat of #7 glaze. From the sound of this dose that strip off the wax?
 
Yup yup yup... in my experience, #7 is gonna strip whatever you put it over. You know how really squeaky paint hints at a lack of protection? Well, after using #7 on Klasse, I got that same squeak... just like what happens when, say, I use SMR. Which DOES remove wax/sealant, of course.



So... yeah. I used to use a 7/26 combination and it came out great. Long before I ever found Autopia, this is what would happen: slick paint, suggesting it's freshly waxed (which it was). Couple weeks later, I decide to use #7. Looks great, but squeaky paint (as in, bare paint... no wax). Waxed w/ #26, beautiful shine, slick again. Soon as I did #7 again, I got the squeaky stuff back. That and my Klasse experience tells me that #7 has to be on the bottom because it surely isn't gonna top anything. :xyxthumbs
 
Damn 7 looks so goo, just adds that extra bit of pop, i always apply it with a light pressure and it never leads to the paint being squeaky clean after the autoglym extra gloss?

Well, I would think that #7 is definitely stripping something. I tended to use a pretty good amount of it, which is why it left my paint like it did. Point is, it will/can strip whatever is used before it. :xyxthumbs
 
Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll post a pic here to show the results of my glazing over the wax, and then i guess its off to waxing it over again.
