Anyone else stop using their foma gun

I realized with ONR now I never use my foam gun anymore. Anyone else get one use it for a bit then no longer use it?

PM me and I will buy it as long as it is a Gilmour.

I quit using my foamgun after a while...then I studied the whole issue of wash-induced marring, developed some new ideas, practiced with the foamgun over the course of a few dozen washes to figure it all out, and now I'll never wash without it. I'm sure glad I didn't give up on it after all...it's nice to not polish for years.

And *NO* argument at all that the whole thing is a PIA..(old John Mellencamp lyrics: "There's not free ride; No one said it'd be easy...").

Or, as one of my favorite authors puts it: TANSTAAFL

Too bad, 'cause it's just about lunchtime . . .

I like mine - but I had to quit using it, because the apartment complex where I wash has an air-nozzle type hose fitting. I've seen a definite increase in marring since switching back to the classic two-bucket, but my LSPs seem to last longer without the high soap dilutions of the FG.

Wanna sell it?

At the risk of sounding like an utter dolt, that acronym's meaning escapes me at present :o

themightytimmah- Wonder if you were just using too strong a mix in the foamgun (says the guy who uses a mighty weak mix in his) :nixweiss Also wonder if you might be able to rig some connector that'd provide sufficient volume/pressure with that weird hose

Depending on the season...During the spring/summer months I like to get the foam gun out and really give the car a good wash.

When it starts getting colder (below 45-50ish) then I start using my no rinse washes in the garage.

I love my foam gun. The foam gun, CG's CW&G, Z7, and a good quality carnauba LSP give me a no-touch car wash that leaves my car looking like it just got a fresh coat of wax.

Foaming the tires and then blasting them off with a pressure washer keeps them looking completely clean, and completely flat black. I *hate* shiny tires. I never have to dress them using the foam gun and the pressure washer.

The foam gun/pressure washer also makes quick work of washing the house windows, too.

Actually, I have done the reverse. After using ONR about 4 or 5 times i switched to a tradisional wash with the foam gun. I am not a pro so I don't not need to be fast. I will probably use ONR over the winter though.

I just don't like the dragging feeling that I get when using it on the dirty panels with my sheepskin mitt, and I don't mean filthy, but dirtier then just dust. I like the product, especially as a QD, but I like the foam gun better. It is a nice product for a lightly dirty/dusty car instead of doing a risky QD cleaning.

It's from Heinlein's "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress":

There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

If you're not a sci-fi geek, there's no reason you'd recognize it. I read a lot of Heinlein, Asimov, Bradbury, and Clarke in my teen years.

Ah, OK thanks...seems pretty obvious now :o

My favorite Heinlein quotes are either "An armed society is a polite society" or "Specialization is for insects", but he's one very quotable guy and I could fill pages with his bon mots ...and I'm not even into sci-fi!
