Anyone Compare Fit vs. Yaris...

When your talking about this much horsepower straightline performance really means nothing to me, I don't see any Yaris Circuits or anything going on,

Notice how I say the Fit will outhandle a Yaris.

Well I went to the local dealership today...and they didn't have any Fit's on the lot :( I was pretty bummed out, as I really wanted to see one in person. If the looks appeal, I plan on getting into one right after winter. I only drive my cars in the summer so I might as well save up during winter to put a bigger down payment down...My car will go for sale at the end of August no matter what...time for something new.

I know it varies person to person...but how does insurance rates look for the Fit? Seems like a very safe car imo...Going to call on Monday to see how much it would be for full coverage for me..I'll keep everyone posted with my findings.

-- I showed my girlfriend and my mom the Fit on the web...and they really didnt like the looks. At first, either did I. They keep saying it looks like a mini mini-van....the looks have grown on me and I think it is kinda fun looking :) Oh well...I guess for once I will have to just follow what I feel and not get a car just to have everyone else think it is cool. :2thumbs:

--My gf keeps telling me a Scion TC is a lot better choice based on looks...someone please chime in and tell me more about the horrible reliability so I can make up my mind once and for all lol

Love the blue! I like the red, too, but that blue is just right. I'd like to see a yellow, too, but they don't make it.

Actually having owned a tC I can tell you one thing about them..Bearing failure..I have read more than a few times about bearing failure on the motor, and one of them got a new motor..the second one that I kept up with was denied a warranty claim because they said that metal shavings left over from the process of making his aftermarket air intake caused premature bearing failure from ingestion. Either way its a nice looking car but the motor is from a camry and although it may be reliable in a camry that goes to 3k rpms everytime on an automatic, making it into a 6.5k rpm shift motor day in and day out on the 5 speed plus adding modifications seems like a non winning combination..whereas Honda has been building high rev'ing high hp per liter motors for a LONG time. just my .02

Ultimately, YOU drive the car, and they love/like you for you, hopefully not what your driving. :nixweiss

Revving a motor at 6.5k RPM is NEVER a good idea. Granted, Hondas have to do it due to the lack of torque those engines provide. My brother has a 06 tC, drives the **** outta it and no problems.

The dealer can blame the metal shavings on the aftermarket intake because you know what, they can. But you can of course, take it them to court having them prove that the intake caused the metal shavings. All the dealers I've worked with are aftermarket friendly, my uncle had an MR2 Spyder, the cat on that car backfired or something causing the motor to blow. Dealer replaced it, no questions asked (He had an AEM CAI and Team Moon exhaust). Its a matter of what dealer you go to, some are more aftermarket friendly than others. I can give you numerous accounts where a Honda dealer denied warranty because of lowering springs or an intake.

I have 22k miles on my '04 xB and it's been to the dealer twice - both times to replace the 6 disc in-dash CD player. I finally have a good one - been about a year now. Other than that, it's been great. It does have a stiff ride even after putting on Tein H-tech springs, but I use it mostly for commuting. It's been on a couple of long rides (14 hours each way) with no problems. I've got an automatic trans and drive it pretty hard.

I went to the Indy Firestone 400 yesterday and Honda is the safety car sponsor. I think I might ditch my truck idea and try and test drive a Fit. Those cars seem pretty sweet for the price.

So a guy drives a Z06, NSX, Carrera Porsche, Viper (etc.) and should granny shift if for the best performance? I revved my '90 Integra to redline regularly(7000 RPM) for 90,000+ miles and there wasn't ever a problem.

Whenever my car went in for any work, I was told to call the service manager so that a special bay would be reserved(NSX corner) so that they could use the proper lift on my lowered car and that precaution would be taken to the added parts. With my old Integra, they never even "took out" the timing that was added. :nixweiss

Check out the new 2 door rabbit. Safest car in that price range. Standard Traction controll. AC PW PL Cruise PM 5spd ABS 4wheel disk Cd Electro-mecanical Steering... Super nice equipped. 14990

My brother picked up a Fit Sport (automatic) earlier this month. It's really well put together, I would buy it if I needed a new car.

He did have to order it from the dealership, but he found a good one that didn't screw him over (Classic Honda, Streetsboro OH)

I looked at the Rabbit but VW has NO specs of rit on their site that I could find for some reason.

yeah I rev all my honda's high and I would have rev'd my tC high except when people start posting about bearing failure on a first year model I was like ok I'm getting out of this..got a new Honda Fit and drive it like I stole it, just like every other Honda I've owned they are high reving motors and take a beating day in and day out and as long as you maintain them, they maintain that smile on your face everytime that vtec engages :) w00t!

And I doubt the Rabbit got better crash results than the Fit and I'll look it up tonight and post the results but I highly doubt it since the Fit is 5 star.

That is what happened to my friend's Xb. A misshift lead to a high rev which lead to troubles. I mis shifted a few times on past cars and a rev limiter always kept my in check.

I got rid of my xB because it wasn't practical at all, no cruise control stock, 4k+ rpms at highway speeds... the tC I just didn't trust to many problems, hatch noise, sunroof shattering, bearing failure, etc..got rid of it for the xB...I saw the fit and I knew I needed a honda again and I'm never buying anything else again well unless I win the lottery then I want an Aston martin i don't care if it breaks I love the way they look :)

That is why we ended up with a second Impreza. We looked at the Scions but they come totally stripped. By the time you add air and power and everything else that come stock on a Subaru you are paying the same price for the Scion or even more.

I'm not saying to granny shift, I'm saying that you driving the **** outta your car constantly is asking for problems. Granted, your car gave you no problems but both you and I know redlining a motor isn't the greatest thing for it. Besides, those cars you listed have more than enough low end torque so that you don't have to redline the motor.

About your service, thats exactly what I'm saying, its just depending on the dealership. One will deny you warranty work while another won't.
