Any Sealant/Wax that can hold looks for awhile?

My technique has been:

wash

clay

wash

IP

FPII

AIO or COLOR X

IW 845

Wash with Eagle One or NXT. Absorber dry. IW seems to lose its looks and "feel", also beading after a few weeks.

Skip the AIO and ColorX, try washing with "softer wash" like Gold Class. The FPII should provide a better surface for the 845 to bond with.

miked2- Take the 12 months thing with a grain of salt, it's just ad copy. I've had that kind of durability from 6 layers, but my experience seems to be unusual.

As for the durability issue in question, I wonder about the shampoo/LSP compatibility. Some shampoos are just hard on some LSPs.

FWIW, Collinite 476S paste lasts a long, long time. No way *it* would be gone after a few weeks, not even on an outside-24/7 vehicle. I use it on the Volvo wagon for years, held up great despite abuse-level care.

I use NXT wash as directed. The car is driven in daily VA weather. We see lots of rain and its been very humid lately. I wash once a week. My paint feels smooth as silk from all the prep work off and on the past 2 years. But the "looks" and beading greatly diminish on my black trans am in a few weeks with the appove mentioned technique and 2x coats of IW. Maybe a bad bottle but I feel like people who make these claims of lasting 6 months or more never see rain, cool climate and garaged kept.

mc01ta,

I'd reapply the FPII, then go straight to 845, the colorx/aio is not necessary. Then try another wash soap, my thinking is that the NXT is pretty tough on the 845.

Yup, that can be said for a lot of products...even the ones that often get mentioned. ;) I stopped searching for a LSP that will go 5 months or better, and now reapply as necessary.

I didn't have any luck with IW either. Maybe I let myself be overhyped. It's good, but it didnt' impress me. I have had good luck with Zaino, outside 24/7. Of course EX-P and Natty's Blue are holding up well at 3 1/2 month mark on my GMC that's outside.

I can't help but wonder if the new OVC-compliant version of 845 is as durable as the older version was :nixweiss I dunno myself, being a 476S user I never really took much note of how the 845 lasts. But when I put some on my wife's rear bumper cover a while ago it seemed to drop off kinda fast, and really benefited from being refreshed with #16 about three weeks later.

Where in VA are you? I can take a look at your paint. FK1's 2180 & 1000 are awesome and last a long time but as you were told - prep is the key.

i'm in Fredericksburg and sometimes in Nova here and there. I'm a real estate agent so I get around :). PM me your info and i can get in touch with you in the future to show you the car, talk about autopia things

Four Star Professional 4-54 Sealant holds its looks for a looong time. The slickness doesn't stay around that long but the wet look does.
