Any painters in the house - tack cloth needed when painting

It's been a very very longtime since I painted anything metal...the closest this was HVLP on the ten zillion wrought Iron fence this summer..after many weekends with my Metabo and getting the prep done 1st.

Is a tack cloth necessary if I'm painting metal or if I'm just doing 320wetsand, 2 Prepsol/Final Klean wipedowns with clean lintfree cloths and everything is coming up clean, do I still need to do a wipedown with a tack cloth ? It's nothing special - just doing a spot repair on a $$$ Honda snowblower. Just wanted to make her perfect....

Well when it comes to painting you want to make sure everything is clean to reduce contamination clean is key here. I personally would use a tack cloth.

Hmm.....Anyone know the answer to this....

This is one piece where I am working with Rustoleum Semi Gloss Black to match the OEM paint..

I'd like to sand it to make it smooth. If I buff it afterwards...will I be inducing more gloss into it than intended...
