Any "leaks" about new G110?

I just got off the phone with a machinist (makes metal yoyo's) told me that CNC finishing is just a clean up of the cast metal which is usually rough. The smoother finish will perform better less noise and vibration, also will most likely last longer.

Yeah, that would be CNC finish machining. If it was just a deburring or other "finishing" it would be done in a vibratory barrel, not in a CNC machine. I'm not sure why we're arguing over semantics, obviously whatever is done to the gears is to get the result you mentioned above, whatever they actually meant in their description.

The difference is that gears CNC'ed from bar stock are going to be denser metal, held to a tighter tolerance, and longer lasting than anything made from a casting.

And I'd be drastically surprised if the components for Griot's orbital polisher isn't the same as the G110 and the UDM.

But that's just it, they don't say CNC machined, they say CNC "finished", so I don't interpret that to be bar stock gears, I interpret them to be cast or PM with just the teeth cut. There's plenty of stuff made with just PM gears, as they come out of sintering, so it would be an improvement to CNC "finish" them. IMO you're not going to see bar stock gears in anything like this.

4. Your tool is made in China as is the UDM, are they made at the same plant with just different cosmetic components?

Absolutely NOT[/b]

This could be a play on words, as the UDM from my understanding is assembled in San Diego through a special program benefitting a certain group of people.

I thought that's where the PC "buy backs" were being refurbished? Is the UDM 'assembled' there also?

On the topic of the G110, I think it's unfortunate that yet another Meg's tool comes from China now. First all their brushes and such, then the towels, and now this. Though actually I suppose I have no reason to think the PC is still made in the USA anymore either... :(

Hey, why not China, seemingly everything else comes from there. I thought the PC was last being made in Mexico, although the scuttlebutt seems to be that it's not being made at all now.

The Megs machine looks more similar to the Griots than the UDM to me

There's a clear difference between the Griots machine and the G110. I can't say the same about the UDM and the G110.

The only thing the G110 has in common with the Griots is the bail-type handle.

If they make chinese tools like they do kids toys you could lick your polisher and get high:eek:
