Any "leaks" about new G110?

Demongers

There was less secrecy about the Stealth Fighter/Bomber than Meguiar's replacement polisher for the G100, the G110. Surely one of our members has heard something about the polisher. Meguiar's won't release anything until Sema opens, Oct 30th. Someone somewhere said, "UDM, anyone?" Might be true. Maguiar's said the replacement machine has been in development for eighteen months. I hated waiting for Christmas as a kid and now I hate waiting for news on new detailing products! Anybody know anything about the G110? Thanks...

I just hope the headphone jack for the built in MP3 player gets moved to the back side. My headphone cord kept getting tangled up with the pad on the prototype. :lol :o

They replaced it with infrared and Bluetooth ! LOL :buffing:

'Thank you. I have discovered what I wanted to know...I\'ll be waiting until the G110 is released to buy my polisher, is all I can say about it...'

Similar, but different. Obviously based on UDM.

Don't like the huge yellow shroud...it lifts the polisher too high. It probably works well though.

Why waist the money on another version of the pc?.Just go and get a flex cause it destroys what a weak sauce pc/udm/meg,s does.

Considering the original G100 was just a rebranded PC, I wouldn't be surprised if this was still a rebranded and "upgraded" UDM, despite what Meguiar's is saying.

2. Is this tool better than other similar machines i.e. the (UDM) Ultimate Detailing Machine sold by Autopia?

See Comparison Chart… They are both designed as Dual Action Polishers. When used with the exact same pads and chemicals, the overall results will be similar.

That doesn't inspire much confidence that the 2 machines are completely different.

3. My friend bought both a UDM and your new tool and upon inspection they look very similar? What’s the deal?

We do not know where the UDM is made, but we do know that we have been working on the new G110 for over a year and can say they are NOT made at the same facility the G110 & G220.

4. Your tool is made in China as is the UDM, are they made at the same plant with just different cosmetic components?

Absolutely NOT

This could be a play on words, as the UDM from my understanding is assembled in San Diego through a special program benefitting a certain group of people. Since Meguiar's is probably not supporting anyone, why not just have it assembled where it's made? Then they can technically say it's made at a different plant.

As far as the specs difference, David had talked about a UDM 2000 or whatever the model # was. Maybe this was the upgrade?

- OPM difference can be achieved by the use of different gearing ratios. The machine already looks very similar with similar specs, so by changing gears it looks like you have a different machine.

- Cord length was/is a complaint about the UDM. It's easy changing the cord length.

- Decibels and weight difference: The Meguiar's polisher is probably heavier and quieter due to better insulation.

Lastly, without the lure of the lifetime warranty they offered on the rebranded PC and the price being the same as the UDM, maybe it's to their benefit that the public doesn't know it's an upgraded UDM. Because if we knew it was just a slightly upgraded UDM, who would you rather give your money to, Autopia or Meguiar's? Some of the money that Autopia makes is going towards a good benefit. It's to Meguiar's benefit to differentiate their machine from the UDM, otherwise the UDM could steal away possible sales.

Those are just my speculations.

It's kind of funny that they do not recommend going into the 6000 OPM range. Why would they allow it to go that high then in the first place. Also, I guess they would cringe when they see me rip the Flex up to 9600 with some forced rotation thrown in and go to town!!!

They don't specifiy wether or not the G110 is based off of the UDM, only that they are made at different facilities. When asked, Meg's will completely sidestep the question as the FAQ shows.

Wouldn't just a different resistor in the speed switch cause different OPM? I'm no electrician but I did fooll around with RC cars for a long time!

Eh...the OPM curves are different and the current draw is too...seems like a slightly different motor and perhaps gearing (ratio, since it states the G110 gears are "CNC finished" which probably means they are tighter tolerance/better fit hence the lower dB's).

I just got off the phone with a machinist (makes metal yoyo's) told me that CNC finishing is just a clean up of the cast metal which is usually rough. The smoother finish will perform better less noise and vibration, also will most likely last longer.

Hm. That sounds nice. At a similar price to the UDM too... very competitive. I like DavidB more though. He bought pizza for us. Therefore I'll keep recommending the UDM (already bought one.)
