Any hope repairing my roof?

My dad asked me to take a look at his car and at first I thought I could buff it out but upon further inspection... I'm very doubtful.

I decided to stop and ask whether I should continue or give up.



Any ideas?
 
If he likes flat gray you could just keep going with the 105 and even it out...



Sorry for the joke, the clear is gone as evidenced by polishing making it worse. Time for the paint booth.
 
What kind of car is it?



I have the same issue on my car as well. Clear coat looks similar. I was planning to get it repainted. However, it may be possible to polish/wet sand and re-clear coat it. I'm considering trying it out. If it doesn't work out, its ok because I was going to get it repainted anyways.
 
Either a bad repaint or yes, from the sun. I see it all the time down here in FL. 1995 was just about the time when BC/CC was commonplace and many of the bugs weren't yet worked out. Seems that darker colored paint is more sensitive due to it attracking/absorbing sun more.
 
My 2000 Black Accord did the same thing. I went overseas for four years and the car just sat in the yard at my father-in-laws land in BFE, Alabama. I bought a car cover and asked him to cover the car but the cover sat in a box in the trunk of the car for four years...



Seemed like sun and lack of wax lead to the clear coat failure.



The good news is you can practice like crazy on the damaged panels since they need to be resprayed...
 
Mine is 10 years old. Original paint/clearcoat. From what I understand, imports, specifically certain Hondas, have a "thinner" clear coat. My car is a daily driver, rarely any garage/covers, but I've been sealing/waxing it since I bought it 10 years ago. I generally do a only-water-wash every 1-2 weeks. If it has grime, bugs, etc.. on it, or every month, it gets a mild/soap wash (and if needed, a sponge wash)



I will have before/during/after pictures within a month or so.



By the way, there are some online videos and articles out there with the process I plan to follow. Basic process :



Clean

Wet Sand (if needed)

Spray clear coat

let dry/cure

some more combinations of

spray clear coat/compound

Compouund (i'm going to start with Menzerma Intense Polish)

Polish (Menzerma Final Polish II)



Then it will be treated like the rest of the car..... glaze, layers of sealant, and layers of carnauba
