Any high quality MF from OTC?

agreed, the green quick detailing towel is just as nice as ALL the other boutique brands. i have zillions of mf's (too many LOL), and i reach for these more often than the other brands i have...

i guess everyone has different experiences with different mf towels, i had the same issue with the CG's mf towels (were suppose to be "better" since they are a boutique brand but were not :down )...

The other Vikings I really like are the thick yellow polishing towels. Very nice. Vroom IMO came out with a bang but have been demoted. the vroom drying towel (huge yellow with grey trim) was a little rough on the paint.

So the vroom drying towel is a little rough on the paint? I almost got one when they were on sale at Target for $4.

I couldn't agree more. The orange ones I use for interior and the green ones are great for exterior.

I use them all the time on my Infiniti's paint which everyone know is SUPER soft and I have NEVER had an issue. I use their big yellow ones for drying and the smaller plush green ones for wax/sealants. Great towels.
 
The problem with linting is that we all like to give our MF's a prewash before use. Well you can wash it alone, but when you put them into the dryer to dry, lint from previous clothes can attach themselves. of course linting is never that bad for me.

also, linting can come from washing your good mf's with cheaper ones as well...

Yeah, I've been using all the Vrooom ones for a while. I use the big yellow ones as my wax/lsp residue remover. I haven't ever had an issue with them, either. Most of my orange and grey ones have been switched over to non-paint duty though, now that I have a bunch of Eurows.
 
How much do the Green Vikings run generally? Several places here carry Viking, but the only place with the large green towels or the gold drying towel is KMart. I have the gold drying towel - love it. Really don't wanna go to KMart just to check the price - it's so ghetto here, I forgot we even had one.

the green quick detailing towel is around $5-$6...
 
In my area, the price went up. The yellow drying towel was $8.99 and now it is $9.59 or something like that. Yiou do not see these sold online much since most can buy the towels and bulk but sell a same or higher price (profit). These have to be high profit items for online sellers.
 
I find any MF that is going to be sold locally at large chain stores to be less than average quality and the quality is going to vary a lot. I've spend the extra money and order some towels from Pak Shak.

i find this far from the truth. the viking green quick detailing towel (also a few other they have) are as good as any of the boutiques. it's a shame, some people dismiss some product(s) that are available OTC to be lesser quality of those sold on-line, are missing out...
 
I stopped by Kmart today and the Viking towels were on sale. I ended up a different Kmart than usual. The green towel is $4.79 (reg $5.99) and the 3 polishing towel roll was $5.59 (was $6.99). I should have checked the yellow drying towels. The sale price was not marked. I went over to a scanner to check (always do) so I picked some more.

That's fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion. No one is right or wrong here, it's all personal opinion. Just don't shoot down my opinion. Everything that I've seen in stores just does not compare to Pak Shak or other high end microfibers. I tried to look up Viking microfibers but I couldn't really find anything on them. Quality depends a lot on where it comes from. Usually the cheaper ones are made in Chine while the nicer microfibers are made in Korea. Do you know where the Vikings are made?
 
I do not know if the China vs Korea myth is still true. The makers of Viking did move many products to China from Korea. I had checked directly with them when I saw Made in China and the green towel still has split end technology (what supposedly only Korea plants could do) and the cloth is still 70/30 prior to finishing (adding the edging, etc).
