Any cordless random orbital polishers?

Does anyone manufacture a high quality random orbital polisher that is cordless? Something that runs off an 18V or 24V rechargable battery?



Haven't seen anything out there yet...
 
The best cordless RO polisher I've seen is made by WEN, which I'm considering purchasing for wax/glaze application. There are others, but this is the only one I've seen where you can use velcro-backed foam pads. It's really not strong enough for swirl-removal (plus, the battery only lasts an hour), but I would think that for adding layer after layer of sealant, it might work.

The Autobarn also sells one. It's got a larger pad (usese bonnets though) and has the option of running off the cigarette lighter. Do a search. I'm pretty sure someone tried this out but I can't remember what he thought.



I bet all these are pretty weak though. I don't think anyone makes a cordless that's powerful.
 
I use pads for the porter-cable on my pnumatic dual-action sander- it's cordless- but has instead a big ol' air hose..:p

I'll use the pneumatic one and just blow real hard into the hose...never have to worry about running out of battery life.
 
It takes a lot of power to move the pad the same way the porter cable moves it for instance-

the batteries to do that would have to be pretty big..and heavy..



Oh and using the air powered DA sander with polishing pads on it sucks compared to using an electric DA- I think it's taken two days for my compressor to cool back down from just doing one fender. It is 5 hp and runs non stop and still I have to wait for it to catch back up. Plus the oil drips from the DA and slings all over- water comes out too.. Alot of waste in the compressor- air tool system.. I guess it's all lost as heat due to compressing the air??



Whatever the case- just got tired of it and bought a pc. Glory!



But if you are going to blow into the hose, then you won't have to worry about the bulky loud hot expensive compressor. :wavey
 
I usually use my 18lb. orbital for applying wax but have fallen in love with this Wen polisher.



I like the corded model best because you can use it with one hand. If you use a carnuba paste, the pad fits into the top of the can so you don't have to turn it upside down or put down the can of wax. It actually has some torque to it and can be pushed pretty hard before it bogs down. This is great for cleaner waxes.



I tried the cordless model but found it hard to use with one hand the way the corded model can.



Again a great product for light duty waxing. Can do a car in a few minutes with one hand.
