any black car tricks

I'm a newbie to this industry of detailing. Did my 1st black car, the owner liked the results but I did'nt. Swirl lines, and the polish was to hard to the result I was looking for . Is there a specific product for Black metalic than other paint colors?

Not so much a different product just more time and more skill (experience) needed. Are you doing this by hand or by machine. What products did you use on the car? what do you have access to?

It's all about the technique. From the way you wash to the way and type of products you use. Explain this to us first, then we'll help you from there.:up

I use 3M Protect-It Swirl Mark Remover (SMR) followed by Zaino Z2.



You can seldom see any swirls or scratches on my paint.



After a few weeks, when they begin to re-appear, I re-do the process.



Makes my black paint look like this:

If the 3M SMR was actually removing the swirls, would they reappear? No. 3M SMR (for Dark Cars) uses fillers, which dissipate over time...



Maybe a switch to a genuine polish will actually correct the defects.

Jim, what products would you recommmend that don't dissipate and have no fillers, for black paint? Thanks Jim.

scottwax recommends using megs #9 with polishing pad on a PC for black cars, followed up by NXT in the "over the counter products" thread. I am actually planning on doing this on my black 93 MR2 this weekend.

I use Megs DACP followed by Megs Swirl Free Polish on my Black car, and I have it to the point where there is very few swirls/scratches visible. All that is left are the ones that need a repaint to fix.

On my black I use



1) DACP where needed

2) Menzerna IP where needed

3) Menzerna FP all over

4) AIO/SG or Zaino

5) Top all but hood with #16.



Menzerna has no fillers or oils.
