Yup, but he said it may not be permanent. He just has some stuff he needs to take care of.

No, its not permanent. Dealing with some issues so its easier to just focus on my detailing right now. Store will reopen later this year. :)

Good to hear you'll be back soon.

Jeff

I'm revisiting this thread because over the past three months since it appeared, I've noticed countless more examples of shipping charges for small orders that equate to 40% or more. But today, I received a 9 lb. package from the U.S. Mint that was shipped U.P.S., and I was charged only $4.95 for shipping and handling! How refreshing!

BTW, I'd still like to get the two pads I used for example in Post 23 for actual shipping cost rather than the 42% mark up typically charged.

I saw this thread and thought that I might be able to contribute. I had worked for company in 2004-2006 to try to help small online retailers (or even large one retailers) solve the shipping charge challenge. There are a few issues like dimensional weight that need to be accounted for (larger items regardless of weight, cost more), also the number of packages required to fulfill an order. Not to mention some product cost more to ship due to special packaging etc... How does a seller account for all of these??

There was a stat that we found during development: 63% of people abandon a shopping cart due to shipping charges.

Ecommerce store fronts are great at displaying products and saving items to a cart, but really lack when it comes to being integrated in to actual shipping tables by the major carriers.

I am assuming that the shopcart product / or api is current and available as I have not been associated with the product for over 5 years but I still see they have an active site.

They have a simple product called shop cart that is tied to paypal / Google check-out AuctionInc ShopCart

Good luck with everything Ken, take your time and get everything you need squared away. We're not going anywhere!
