Another silly newbie question,

There is so much info on this site it's hard to get it all collated. I think I read somewhere here that I should cut my new Charisma towels to a certain size and remove the seams?,tags?, Is there any other prep work to do to these towels? Any special laundry detergent, pre-wash them? dry in a dryer w/wo antistatic thingie? Man, I feel like a complete greenhorn here!:p

PS getting ready for ZAINO:D

I don't know anything about cutting them to a particular size, but I would suggest you cut the tags off. They always seem to get in the way. As far as washing them goes you can use any detergent you want. A lot of guys on the board wash their towels by hand with Dawn. Thats what I do. It works pretty well. Never ever use dryer sheets if you dry them in a machine though. Very bad.

When washing your towels, try to use a liquid detergent in the washing machine. At times, a powdered detergent may not dissolve all the way and could get caught in the nap your towels - not what you want to happen.

Second, don't add any fabric softener to the rinse cycle. The softener will stay on the towels and could cause a haze on your finish. And yes, no dryer sheets either - for the same reason. :)

The 'beauty-band' portion and the folded ends of the Charisma bath towels may scratch your paint. You can either keep your towels folded when using so that those parts never touch your paint, or you can cut off the edges and have them serged with 100% cotton threads.

As for cutting your towels to a certain size, that just makes them easier to work with when using your towels to buff polish and wax. I've got about 10 small Charisma towels that are about 16 x 24 and their size makes them really easy to work with.

Tide laundry detergent is perfectly acceptable - just be sure it's in the liquid form without added bleach. I use Purex liquid detergent for my towels, and set the washer on the extended wash cycle. I don't really care for the ultra bargain brand detergents myself, they don't seem to clean as well. Just my experience.

Any laundry detergent without bleaches and softeners should work just fine....Tide just happens to be more expensive then most.

Some don't even use liquid Tide, they use liquid Dreft. It should be near Tide and all the other laudry detergents. Which reminds me, I have to pick a bottle up soon at K-mart.

As of now I use the blue dawn.

I looked in that section of the grocery store and they had all kinds of "free" products. Aside from Tide Free and Dreft, they had hypoallergenic All and and additive free Cheer. Sensitive skin Arm and Hammer. Pretty much everything in bleach and additive free. Funny thing is they're pretty much all from the same 2 companies, so they probably all have similar if not the same ingredients. I wash my towels in Dawn in the washer so I just browsed.
