Another Pual Dalton Thread... i know... shoot me now

I have to admit, I don't use the two bucket method on client cars if I'm going to be polishing them. And if it's just a maintenance wash, I don't do a two bucket wash, either; I have my own washing technique. I feel like my washing method is far superior to the two bucket method, but that's just me. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one haha... sometimes I feel so guilty for just quickly trying to get the car washed so I can get to claying then polishing... I know I might put a swirlmark or two in the paint, but that's always .00001% of the defects, which gets removed anyways, so I don't mind

+1 haha me too!

< sarcasm >

I like paul dalton, maybe he can be a forum sponsor?

I understand that he promotes exclusivity... but he shouldnt lie! I mean come on... everyone knows enough to not lie on national television. Eventually i am going to try to promote myself in a similar way... however i will not lie.

lying and MSRP are not the same. trust me i own a distributorship of products and there is no way my accounts could ever sell the products for what the manufacture states is MSRP. sometimes it is 10 dollars an item lower. say or instance cost to the retailer is 8.78, he sells for 14.95, but MRSP is 29.99. but competition would never allow it. now he states what they would like to get for them, not what he actually pays, not even talking about bulk or volume discounts.

and the only thing Paul needs two buckets for, is for him to carry his money home in.(sarcasm) LOL

You got that right (we agreed again :grinno:). I always scratch my head when I see people doing the "2 bucket wash" on a vehicle that's getting polished. I just don't see the point unless they're using a garden hose to rinse (or not pre-rinsing at all). I make sure that every specs of dirt(grit) is removed from the vehicle before I touch it. The only thing that's left after I powerwash is road film oils which I feel isn't too detrimental to the finish when a good wash media/soap is used.

Sorry to h-jack the thread...

I use a bucket of gravel. I love the look of primer! :D

Seriously though, I rarely use two buckets. I do it on some maintenance washes but that's about it. Between the foam cannon, grit guard, and me being anal...well, ya.

What's better (and cheaper) = 2 buckets OR rinsing your sponge off with your hose before dipping it in your clean bucket of soapy water?

or a grit guard?

Is pre-foaming and 2 buckets a prerequisite for someone to be cosidered a Pro?

That is a good one David.:chuckle:

I never use the 2 bucket method, but I use my own method and I never induce marring at all. I have showed a lot of people my own system and they love it. I wash all my cars after full corrections and have never seen any marring. I have done some of the most finicky paints too and have still not had a problem.

Good for you! If you do great work and are very honest then you can charge what you want and you will get it.
