Hi all,

I've never really detailed a car per se and am getting ready to do my black '04 Liberty Renegade which hasn't really had anything done to it since I bought it last October. It's kept in the driveway and now has some minor surface scratching here and there that needs to be worked out.

Anyway, I've been reading a number of forums about detailing, recommendations, procedures, products, etc., and I've also gotten some things I figured I might one day be able to make good use of (or at least I thought so):

  1. PC 7424
PC 7428 (got a deal on this @ $128.00 off ebay, couldn't resist the price)
Pads for the 7424 (1x 6" Flexible Velcro Backing Plate, 1x 6" Lambswool Compounding Pad, 1x 7.5" Advanced Yellow Compounding Pad, 2x 7.5" Advanced White Polishing Pads, 1x 7.5" Advanced Grey Finishing Pad)
An assortment of microfiber towels, including a couple of Big Blue II's
    Natural Sea Sponge
    Sheepskin Washmit
A number of microfiber hand applicators
    Eimann Fabrik Power Wash+
    P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo
    Blackfire PolyClay II Kit
    Meguiar's Scratch X Scratch Remover
    Klasse AIO
    Klasse SG
    P21S Carnuba Wax
    [/list=1]

After reading the forums here, I've also thought of picking up some UPP and using it instead of the AIO. And I'm not sure what I really want to use as the first step after the wash and any necessary claying (the cleaning/polishing phase).

Anyway, it's great to be here. The forums here seem to provide alot of helpful info!

Welcome to DC! The link in my signature might help you out a little bit. Its not the difinitive work on detailing, but its my suggestions for how to do some of it.

I would say that you've got quite the collection there. I'd toss the sea sponge as I have learned those can scratch. I only use wool wash mitts. They don't trap dirt as easily. I also don't think its necessary to replace AIO with anything. UPP is a sealant that would look terrific over the top of AIO. AIO is just a paint cleaner and really can't hold a candle to UPP in the appearance department. It definitely looks like you are well on your way! :bigups

AIO has so many good uses, it is a must have in my arsenal..
Before I use EX or UPP I have a coat of AIO underneath
and I also use it on my wheels engine area and other areas....
