Another M3 CSL

This was the first detail for my newly formed company so was kind of special to me in some respects. Itâ€â„¢s also the first detail Iâ€â„¢ve done for full up money (no mates rates etc) and for somebody Iâ€â„¢ve never met before â€â€œ so I wanted to make a good impression.

No before shots as it wasnâ€â„¢t particularly dirty â€â€œ but there were quite a few swirls that needed attention.

Process was:

NXT wash

Clay

SSR2.5/Sonus DAS Orange

SSR1/Sonus DAS Green

EX-P by hand (left to cure for an hour before being removed)

AG Fast Glass

Megâ€â„¢s Endurance High Gloss on the tyres

Hyperturismoâ€â„¢s Wheel Wax

NXT All Metal Polysh on exhaust tips (not that you can see them in any of the pics).

The pictures â€â€œ in no particular order:

oh, man o man!!! beautiful work....

probably my favorite car...I have an e46 M3, we can't get the CSL in the States..

The tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport Cups - specially developed for the CSL. They do have tread, but not a lot of it. They've been designed as a road legal track tyre so you don't need to take a second set with you.

I was like :shocked when I saw the tire before I read your post. How cool

Great job on the detail :xyxthumbs

Does the SSR 2.5 dust like crazy for you?

Ben,

You are doing some sweet vehicles these days. And you are doing great work on them. :xyxthumbs

Spilchy, I don't have a dust problem with SSR2.5 at all. You may be using too much...

We get the "competition package" which is the americanized version of the CSL. It's lighter of course, has different wheels, bigger brakes, and a "track mode" setting.

It's hard to improve on perfection :D

I don't find it dusts that much, but I do find that it's quite hard to tell if you've worked it long enough - when using 2.5 I often have to employ the finger test to check my progress.

I also find that it clogs pads quite quickly, even though I'm using tiny amounts of it.

Ben

Whilst I was doing the CSL the sun came out and I spotted this Mondeo next door!:shocked What's he been "polishing" it with? A brick?!!

Ben...Great work man...as an M3 owner I just sit back and drool over that thing...I can only hope in my lifetime to get to see one in person.

Andy

Ben excellent work especially on silver, love those wheels and how clean you got them. Great job! :up

The black mondeo ..... looks like children's handprints to me :)

....or a Brillo pad :D

Ben, superb work as usual mate. You're really flying the flag for us Brits at autopia!!

Can I be very rude and ask what you charged and what area you're covering - and did you put together any sort of business plan beforehand?

This is something which I can't seem to ignore as I have a few "clients" locally and am wondering whether to take the plunge.

Andy,

At the moment I charge £200 for a full exterior (which is what you see in the pictures here). I'm going to up this for bigger cars and SUVs probably to £240. If I fill my books at those prices then they'll go up again.

In terms of area I'll go anywhere - but if it's considerable distance I will be charging for travelling time.

In terms of where I'm at I have the company (Ltd) registered, bank accounts are being sorted, my van has been ordered and my logos are nearly finished. I kind of have a business plan at the moment but will formalise this when all of the above are sorted. I have plans to take this a lot further than just me and a van.

Ben

Excellent work there, Ben. £200 smackeroonies, eh? Wow, now that's what you call raising the game to another level.
