Another HONDA (CR-V) - Detailed by Luster

Second Honda this week! I guess lowering my rates for the recession must have paid off!!! (Haha!)

Just "average" on dirt. Not trashed like yesterday's detail. But the paint wasn't in very good shape. Lots of swirls. The owner is a cheap..... nevermind.

Anyway, he wouldn't pay for me to polish the car. He said, "Wax or sealant only. And just one coat."

OK.

Washed with QEW.
Cleaned interior with Meg's APC.
Cleaned interior glass with Sprayway and MF towel.
Conditioned interior plastic & vinyl with PBB&B.
Vac'd carpet and floormats.
Shampoo'd floormats with Woolite Hvy Traffic Foam.
Removed Bugs/Tar with Tarminator.
Clayed with Meg's Quik Clay.
Applied Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant by hand.
Cleaned wheels with Mother's All Wheel Cleaner.
Dressed wheelwells with ArmorAll Tire Foam.
Dressed tires with PBB&B.
Cleaned Door Jambs with carwash soap and a large tire brush.
Dressed plastic cladding with PBB&B.
Done.

Owner gave me 2 "Wows", 1 "Fantastic" and 1 "Freakin' Awesome!"

He declined on the engine bay.

HERE'S AN INTERESTING SHOT: I simply wiped the spare tire cover with PBB&B without cleaning it first. Pretty nice contrast!

Great Job as usual Bill,

excellent writeup and documentation of your process

Im suprised the owner didnt want more correction work and a good polish, It would have made the car look even better I bet.

But still, excellent work

As hard as I tried, and convincing as I could be... he wouldn't budge. It was going to cost him an extra $50-$75 depending on what he wanted. He wouldn't even go for an "All-In-One" product. I even showed him before/after pics of other polishing jobs... no go.

"Please don't put a buffer on this car."

OK.:out:

Great job with before and after pics! I would be curious to see a close up of the "hood" picture after you applied the clay bar/wax sealant. I saw the one with the swirl marks and to see an after one would be helpful. thanks

Nice work. Present economic conditions may encourage an increase in "minimal" professional car care - and you have set the bar at a very respectful level. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry... I wasn't thinking far enough ahead. I should have done a direct sunlight shot of the swirls before and after the Blackfire.

The BF/WD was a very good choice for this vehicle, especially considering the limitations I was given not to polish. I must admit, it turned out pretty well!

Here are a couple more... but this is as close as I can come to "hood" shots.

Thank you Jack...

I charge by the hour and he asked me to keep it to 4 hours. I had to work pretty fast to get all that done... :D:D:D But an excellent "cardio" workout!!!:)

Sweet!

the clay and BFWD really gave his ride a nice shine even without the polish.

"please dont use a buffer on my car" he mustve heard some Horror stories of burnt paint and hologram hell. too bad some clowns give buffing a bad name.

SVT... I added a couple pics so you could take a look at the hood. (scroll up a couple posts.)

As my grandad would have said about your work: "Better than he deserves" Great job for such time and $$ constraints. I'd classify this as "detailing under duress" :)

Well done, young man.
