Another from Downunder!

I like a song from a local Southern Rock band from the late 70s. The band is Stillwater and the song is "Sam's Jam". Stillwater would have probably made it big like the other Southern Rock bands of the 70s but Capicorn Records in Macon, Georgia crashed not long after they signed Stillwater. Wes

Agreed.... put that pedal to the floor and drive it like it's the last time you'll drive in your life!

As for the iceage; I do believe that was over long ago.... :p

New faves from commercials:

Stay As You Are - Span (Nissan XTerra (Mud & Guts))

Molly's Chambers - Kings of Leon (VW Jetta)

The Yardbirds - Over Under Sideways Down (Chevy Cobalt)

I think it's some kind of car or at least a vehicle of some kind. Song is about driving. :nixweiss

It's an awesome song, especially if you drive a red roadster. ;)

"RED BARCHETTA"

My uncle has a country place

That no one knows about.

He says it used to be a farm,

Before the Motor Law.

And on Sundays I elude the Eyes,

And hop the Turbine Freight

To far outside the Wire,

Where my white-haired uncle waits.

Jump to the ground

As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline.

Run like the wind,

As excitement shivers up and down my spine.

Down in his barn,

My uncle preserved for me an old machine,

For fifty-odd years.

To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.

I strip away the old debris

That hides a shining car.

A brilliant red Barchetta

From a better, vanished time.

I fire up the willing engine,

Responding with a roar.

Tires spitting gravel,

I commit my weekly crime...

Wind-

In my hair-

Shifting and drifting-

Mechanical music-

Adrenalin surge...

Well-weathered leather,

Hot metal and oil,

The scented country air.

Sunlight on chrome,

The blur of the landscape,

Every nerve aware.

Suddenly ahead of me,

Across the mountainside,

A gleaming alloy air-car

Shoots towards me, two lanes wide.

I spin around with shrieking tires,

To run the deadly race,

Go screaming through the valley

As another joins the chase.

Drive like the wind,

Straining the limits of machine and man.

Laughing out loud

With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan.

At the one-lane bridge

I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.

Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside.

:woot: :xyxthumbs

There's lots of songs I like to drive to but basically I like anything by:

Linkin Park

Korn

Limp Bizkit

Kid Rock

Beastie Boys

Collective Soul

White/Rob Zombie

Metallica

Nickelback

Audioslave

AC/DC

... Plus a bunch of others that I can't think of off the top of my head. :bounce

wow now if you're really going back that far......

So many, hard to name one.......

"Nothin' from Nothin' " by Billy Preston (thats going back wow I heard that song with my grandad when I was knee high!).

There are so many songs I like driving to though....very tough question to answer squarely!! Fun to think of them!!!

The best answer for me is the band that I like driving to the most, and they are:

1. The Love Unlimited Orchestra

2. The Isley Brothers

3. Earth, Wind & Fire

4. (still tough choices!!!)
