Another from Downunder!

Have you seen the latest Applied Materials' commercial? It shows a Porsche Turbo ripping up Highway 1's Big Sur coastline and sliding sideways through the corners. The soundtrack is one of my old favorites. Space Station #5 from Montrose, featuring Sammy Hagar on lead vocals.

Another song I like driving to is "Spring Affair" by Donna Summer. For me, it's a nice little highway song. I also cut loose playing 2 of Dan Hartman's tracks (Vertigo/Relight My Fire and Instant Replay).:D

Today, I let loose on I-88 while listening to one of the mix tapes I own. :D

Another song I like for highway driving is "People Hold On" by Cold Cut f/ Lisa Stansfield. It's somewhat mellow but you can roll 75-85 easily off of it. Another song I have rolled off of is "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust.

I actually have a mix CD with both tracks and it's pretty sweet.

<strong class='bbc'>No one can ever accused you of not knowing what you like !!! I recognized about 3/4 of those songs, and they are awesome driving tunes ! Time for me to check out the others!

Did you check out the others yet?

If I'm having a rough day, I actually like Delilah's voice, she's all like, "having a rough day?, in a lot of traffic, well you've come to the right place with Delilah" and I actually fall for it, haha.

I usually listen to radio music so I don't have many cd's playin.

Hey Prinz you bring back a lot of memeories, I like that Break Stuff song and Nookie, I like the old Green Day, Offspring, and Live stuff (reminds me off college)

I wish they had something like B96 in Cleveland too. Salsa's cool too, I had a ton of fun at this huge Latino Club on the North Side.

I also listen to my brother's band a lot www.phuz.com

The first time I heard "Break Stuff" was when I was commuting. :D

To get my blood flowing I listen to Linkin Park (Cure for the Itch, In The End, Papercut) and some stuff from The Matrix soundtrack.

For a more relaxed drive I'll put on U2 (Hawkmoon, Sweetest Thing, God Part II).

Also occasionally some Bond for something different. And no I dont meant James Bond soundtracks, I mean the awesome electronic string quartet group.

But that was all while I drove in my dad's new Intrepid R/T, now I need a cd player in my econoblob Protege, argh.

and Lidell Townsell, I remember those from my glory days of college !! I was driving a 1984 Datsun/Nissan Sentra, I bought that car for $400 and drove it for 3 years.:D

Prinz - I saw the AMG and I had to get out the CD...almost forgot I had it! Thanks for the reminder...B**ch betta' have my money!

I'm chuckling while listening to the CD right now - very creative fellow, that AMG is.

And, thanks to LimeWire, I'll be sampling a few others on your very comprehensive list.

Another nice bumpin song is "Cool Like That" by Digable Planets.
Ironically, I actually have that on 12"

Ok, this is getting scary - I too, have the CD from Digable Planets, and I <em class='bbc'>used to have[/i] the 12" album as well - thanks to a stint at the college radio station, but sold it some years ago. I think I got a dollar for the LP.

I almost forgot the Slim Shady LP for Commuting. I usually wind up cracking up over "My Name Is" but staging for the stoplight grand prix at the beginning of the final track.

I also forgot "Disappear" by Metallica. It's a nice song for highway. I also like "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Ozzbourne and "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC. "No More Words" by Berlin is a good highway driving song. I played that driving to Champaign.

Other Spirited Driving Songs Include:

All Day: The Kinks

You Got Me Going: The Kinks

Din Daa Daa (Trommeltanz)- George Kranz (Nice for Autocrossing)

I also did some highway driving off of "Gett Off" by Prince & the NPG.

Oh yeah, 2 more Cruising/Chilling Songs:

Roof Garden - Al Jarreau

Pretzel Logic - Steely Dan

Remember the Porsche Commercial when they took a 944 Turbo through a power slide and had a remake of "School's Out?" I think they were promoting a deal with a driving school or something like that. I actually had the remake (By Krokus) until my tape collection disappeared.

Most of the time I listen to the Ford Philharmonic 32-Valve Orchestra singing under the hood... on long drives when the Snake gets onto a highway, I enjoy "Heavy Fuel" from Dire Straights.

For late night highway driving, I recommend "White Eagle" by Tangerine Dream. It is available on the album of the same name.
