Hi,

I am new to the car world. I just brought a pre-owned silver toyota celica

it has got some minor dents, scratches, and paint peeling off from some places.

i want to get the whole car repainted and get it detailed.
can some one tell me how much it should approximately cost. I am living in New Jersey.

Thanks

If you want to repaint every year, go to Maaco or a backyard blow-in guy and by $500-$800 plus body repair. That's also helpful for destroying trim and making your decals crooked.

I just detailed an older Crown Victoria that had a bad repaint:

That's right, very little reflection. It is worse on hood, roof and trunk. She is paying me $200 to bring back some shine and is getting a terrific deal. I didn't have any bookings this weekend so I took it.

If you want to repaint, be committed to $1500 or better for a car with just a little body damage, and $2000 or more with 3 or more body work spots.

After that plan to spend about $300-$400/year having a detailer protect the paint and keeping it shiny. You can do it yourself for about the same as you'd spend on the first year, and each year after that only a few dollars.

I live in pennsylvania. I own a 2001 chevy s10(in perfect shape) to have it repainted caddy cream white it was going to cost me somwhere around 3500 total with tax and labor. To have your car detailed its about the same everwhere(or should be) $150 is a good price to have your automobile fully detailed. I hope I was some help to you!

While the pricing changes with how much work needs to be done to the car (prepping) the paint cost can be from $1,000 up to $4,000 as other have mentioned. As for the detailing, ask the painter how long you should wait to apply wax. Then spend hours and hours of reading here and figure out what will work for you along the lines of polishes and other products. There is no average price of a detail in my book. The cheap ones seem to be hack jobs who have no idea what they are doing and then there are the professionals who charge more, take their time, know what they are doing, and have the greatest results. The other alternative is to spend $300 in detailing supplies (polisher and supplies) and be set for a few years and have the credibility of maintaing your own car and not taking it somewhere. And depending on the year of the car, how good you want it to look, and how long you are going to keep it may change the price. If you just want it to look better than it is and keep it for a few years you may not want to spend the big $ on an expensive paint job.
