Not to sound like a jerk, but the detail looks "unfinished". The wheelwells are still dirty and undressed, the tire dressing looks very uneven on that shot of the wheel/tire, and that wheel looks like it could use a little more cleaning. It's little things like that that you can do to set your details above the average "Joe Schmo" that washes/waxes his car.

As eveyone has pointed out there are few things to improve on.



Im just going to shoot some advice ur way of things u could get at little expense that would majorly help you.



1 gallon Megs APC, you can even get it in town via ordering at a Megs. paint repair place.



Some Mothers small detail brushes.



Mothers tyre scrubber.



Mothers long armed arch brush.



Spray all exterior plastics like that bottom bumper and the arches and wing mirrors with APC and get to work with ur brushes. Your wheels can uses APC to clean then up better, the same with tyres. All your trim dressing and tyre dressing will go on smoothly and evenly as well.



It will make a world of difference.



If you are faced with non corrective details, minamise the damage! Mothers Stage 2 glaze is excellent and you can get in town for like $5-$6.



If you have a machine polisher get Optimum Opti seal, 32oz, pretty cheap and will minor correct and seal in one step.



Cant wait to see the next detail.

Geoff, good constructive criticism. You are such the diplomat.



El, do not take it the wrong way. These guys are really trying to make sure that you have a good solid process. If you can post here and get no criticism, then you can pack yourself on the back. Until then, take it as a lesson learned.

Good advice. Just to clarify, I think you're referring to Poli-Seal.
 
El Camino, in the future, it would be good to post what sort of a detail you are performing and what products and methods you are using. That, it becomes easier for us to help you.
 
You can clean more areas with an APC vs. a degreaser. For example, you can use an APC on carpets where you really wouldn't want to use a degreaser. I use a degreaser on tires, wheel wells, and dirty door jambs. APC works for other areas that need a little extra TLC.



Meg's APC+ is a great product and is very inexpensive. Check out AutoDetailingSolutions.com in the Detailer Line section.

Also, if you don't want to get the mothers glaze, Pepboys acutally has some great OTC products, like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze that you can use. It's a little more difficult than other products out there but it will do the job.



I'd also add a clay bar to your detailing line as an added option. It's another OTC product (mothers or meguiars) and it will vastly improve the look of the car if it is full of contaminants. Even if you can't polish the car, clay will make it clearer.

+add a tire shine. I'd recommend Meguiars Hot Shine SPRAY with Eagle 1 Tire applicator.



Small things like that will make things much nicer!
 
I meant to do them but I got pressed for time at the last minute. I'm doing an F-150 now and I made sure to do them first. I normally do them during the final wash.

I tried Megs Hotshine and Hated the greasy look:nomore: not going to get it any more
 
Something just isn't right here. Why would you use all those different paint products (paint cleaner, polish, ColorX, ScratchX). Some of those are quite redundant. I also wonder why you'd go to all that trouble if the person didn't want to pay for any paint correction. Paint correction with a buffer sure would have been faster than doing all those steps by hand (I assume you're not using a buffer).



I hate to sound like a jerk, but your process doesn't make a lot of sense.

Why would you polish, ColorX, ScratchX? That seems kinda pointless, especially if the client didn't want correction?
