nice job on a nice car. :xyxthumbs

can't wait to see more pictures.

hmmm, from the looks of it, and considering it is a Cobra, i'd say that guy is just finishing up replacing the clutch. ;)

With all these people posting up pics of their finely detailed mustangs, it kinda makes you wonder...

Do mustang owners just care more about their cars?

Are the cars worth that much extra effort?

Or do their cars just look that much better than a cough camaro cough?:nixweiss :D Just kidding, I think both cars are ugly as sin. :p

Car looks great spree. Now post up some more pics.

nope...he was welding on full length subframe connectors for me.

He didn't do it on jack stands did he? Sub frame connectors are best welded with the weight of the car on the tires.

Below is a link to the instalation instructionsl on Maximum Motorsport's website. The very first paragraph states this.

"The cars weight must be on the tires"

EDIT: After looking closer at your picture does he have the car supported under the suspension so that it is loaded as it would be if it were one the ground? The suspension doesn't appear to be hanging?

I definitely can't take credit for it as others do the same but, I have been pushing Autopia on every Mustang board I belong to for years.

nope, not yet...I'll do that when I slap on my exhaust :D

What exhaust are you gonna go with? I have been really happy with the Magnaflow Catback I have on the GT. I am planning to add an MRT catted H pipe next.

How are your impressions of the sub frame connectors so far? I am still debating between MM full length and the Kenny Brown extreme matrix system.

yeah, I know MM's instructions say that. He had the car on jack stands, but the jack stands were right under the shocks...so the suspension was halfway loaded. The tires definitely weren't hanging. I can tell the car was put up fine cuz when he had it up, I was able to easily open the door (whenever the car is lifted up by the chassis, it's hard to open up the doors)

I had magnaflow on my '03GT...i was more or less happy with it, but I'm gonna go with borla stingers on the cobra.

I love the subframes...definitely made the whole frame of the car stiffer during cornering.

Did you have the standard Magnaflow mufflers or the Magnapaks on your GT? I also looked at Borla and the Steeda catback which I believe uses Borla mufflers before settling on the Magnaflow. What I didn't like about Borla is even though they have a low rumble that I like they were a little raspy on the GT. The sound clip below is of an 03 Cobra and although they don't sound as bad as they seemed to on a GT you can still hear a tinge of rasp when the motor is revved.

I had the standard Magnaflow w/ a Magnaflow catted X.

I haven't heard good things about the Borla system on the GT, but it's awesome on the cobra. They also make the best looking tips IMO.

That's not rasp...that's throaty :D :bow

i'd say get the MM full lengths as they run from the firewall all the way back to the torque boxes, or something like that. the KB extreme matrix look pretty good, but i can imagine it might be more of a pain to install with the extra bracing. MM & FF did an install of those sometime ago. it didn't seem to be easy. i also think you need to get the heavy duty subframes to be used with that system.

either way, any decent subframes are worth it. i could feel a difference right after i installed some of KB's regular subframes with the cross-bracing (the seat felt more secure).
