Another Beautiful Lexus Design: The 2006 IS

I hate you for showing me these links cuz I know I cant have it. I adore some of Lexus' designs especially that one.
 
They are definitely going more sports car lately in the design look. I think we will be even more impressed with the final design of the new $150K sports car.
 
It'll have to grow on me a bit more, but overall, I like it.



The back ends, on the new IS and GS scream BMW to me. 5 and 7 series respectively.
 
I think the GS is a much better looking car than the IS. This new IS seems to borrow too many design characteristics from other cars. For example the front screams Mazada to me and the rear is cross between BMW's big bodies and the G35. The sides look like big bodied BMW's. I always sort of liked the IS300 for its sort of boy racer looks, but this car has attempted to take too many of the current cars designs and it just doesn't quite come together for me (at least in these pictures). That said I think I will have to see it in person to get the full effect.



Interior looks flawless as usual. Is it going to come with the sport features to compete with the 3 series and G35 (i.e. manual, sport tuned suspension, etc.)?
 
Wow, almost completely different design than the current IS. The new IS and GS I think are both pretty hot looking cars.
 
bet993 - You hit the nail on the head. I'm also seeing Maxima influence in the design. Sharp looking car but they should have just evolved the IS300 design, this looks heavier and larger.



dimedrol - Lexus has come a long way, you might want to check your text. Your meaning came out different from what you entered.

Should call it the InfinitiGSminiBMW745i !!! But big improvement over current model. Hopefully increased HP by at least 50%.

I like the car, though I do see a blend of quite a few current cars. Mazda styling in the rear, BMW in the front, G35 sedan for the side. Then again, there are only so many designs and shapes.

I agree, but this should be the benchmark for a "sports sedan" in the $30-35k range. I cannot see paying a Lexus price for a "sports sedan that will be ate for lunch by a WRX. I think Lexus should stick with what they do best ... Refined luxury.
 
I like it, other than the rear. It just confuses me.

Next Hyundai Sonata. Yay. :( So sad since the rest of the car looks clean, and nice.



I think the Sonata borrows is rear design somewhat from the Accord... which quite possibly has the ugliest rear seen on a sedan in 10 years.
 
Nice, but I saw Acura TSX/Volvo S40 is its design, with a little RSX in the rear side window treatment. Will have to see in person. No 2JZ motor *sigh*:(
 
Never liked the IS and I still don't based on what I see of the 06. Yeah it better have 300 horse, otherwise I'll just save 20 grand and by a Mazda 6, which honestly looks better than this 06 IS in my opinion.
