And now for something completely different....

Thanks Pat, Troy, Wheelzntoys and Roshan.

I wonder if the owners of cars with matte paint really understand this.

It was explained on arrival to the owner - at least to the point it was fully understood - in this case. In preparing for this one, I found that Hyundai has a matte option for the Velocitor and they also say matte is a no-no for a daily driver.

Did it require claying?

I did not clay. Excessive touching of the paint is not recommended. That is why I want Permanon Super Matte. Should be the minimally abrasive way of getting protection on the car.

The paint is very slightly textured which (I believe) is how they get the matte finish.

Is that painted or wrapped?

Custom paint from Mercedes Benz.

This one came back on Saturday for a bit of sprucing up. Played with two new things:

1) My electric pressure washer developed a leak in the wand. Thought, "no biggie, I'll go buy a replacement wand and hose." Uh, no. Proprietary fittings on both ends of the hose. @#%$!! So I went to my second favorite store (behind ACC ;) ), Costco, and picked up a Honda-powered Simpson unit - 3000psi 2.4gpm! Used it with my MTM foam cannon and CG Meticulous Matte Car Wash (1.5oz) and sticky shaving cream. Love it. World of difference from my old unit.

2) After I finished playing with the PW, out came Permanon SuperMatte. This is the only way to go on a matte/satin finish. Applied with my Porter Cable compressor + my Harbor Freight Detail Spray Gun (Item # 92126) and dried with MetroVac 8hp Car Dryer. Used about 4oz of 10% solution. A light wipe down with distilled water took care of any spots. Left a super silky feel and did not increase gloss at all.

SuperMatte's brother will be featured in my next Showcase post. (I'm learning about the art of the tease from Todd. ;) )

Something must be wrong with me. Either I've been going crazy lately, or headaches and allergies have me screwed up.............

But

This car is starting to turn me on, more and more.
The subtle reflection of the matte is doing something for me.

it's your OCDetailer meds again ron. time for the doc to bump the mgs. :D

Thanks kc.

I'm in the same boat. Got to ride back to the owner's in it and, from the inside (low angle), it is just as glossy as a normal paint. the more perpendicular you get, the more matte. Very cool car... in every way.
