And in this corner: CS vs HM

Can you elaborate on what the WDGLS is? :inspector:

Glen,

Just received my Hydro Max two days ago.. Looking forward to trying it out. Would you see it as a replacement for Crystal Seal, at this point?

No.....I think overall, CS is a better value.....

Even at 2.75 times the cost? I like the CS, don't get me wrong.. Just playing devil's advocate. Hydro Max = $1.37/oz, Crystal Seal = $3.75/oz.

Do you use 2.5 times the amount of the HM to get the same shine as CS?

You need to look at it in price per application not price per once....

Four ounces of Crystal Seal treat up to 40 vehicles
  • So 4oz is $18. $18 / 40 = $0.45 per application

(I have not used Hydro MAX yet so this is a guess / estimate)
Lets say that you use 1/2oz per application.
  • 16oz is $22. $22 / 32 = $0.69 per application

Valid point.. I guess that was the "Do you use 2.5 times the amount of the HM to get the same shine as CS?" part of my response.

Interested to see if I can notice the difference. Glen e has been a great mentor on getting me up to speed on the detailing game.. But he also helps feed this new addiction. :wall

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Liquid Seal, the WG version of Crystal Seal. I use this and regular Hydro.

Just an update - wife has got the car so I don't have a pic but the two are looking the same withe same level of beading and reflectivity...just looking to put some time on the panel for some aging...

Here's the thing, I, for reasons unknown have an impossible time trying to use the tiny amounts suggested. "Four ounces of Crystal Seal treat up to 40 vehicles" Really? Not by me - that's 1/10 oz per car! Jeez-zoo, no way is this going to work for me. I am a big fan of Blackfire, probably bought a gallon or more over the years and I use a good bit more BFWD than others when I apply (gold pad - PCXP on #2) but it last and looks great.

So, this HM stuff has me interested, thanks for the review, I made a note to get some.

They are discussing BF Crystal Seal (the spray on sealant) not the liquid BFWD Sealant.
