I have been working on changeing the water pump on the SS today, As you can see there is parts everywhere and coolant all over the floor..... It is fun to fix your own stuff but it is a lot of work! Anyhow, this is a pic of the operating room...
 
Yeah, but admit it...it's fun to work on your own car. :) Nice set of ramps, I got that same set. Rhino ramps rule. :xyxthumbs
 
You are a braver and more mechanically incline person than me. :bow

That's a job for my mechanic. I'm afraid of all the parts left over when I finish. OK for the lawn mover but not my cars. :) I am sure that is not a problem for you. Good luck (skill) on the work. You can buy a lot of Zaino with the hundred or so dollars your saving by doing this yourself.
 
sure..... but ya gotta admit - having a "sterile" operating room to work out of sure is nice! ;) :D



and besides, the floor and/or walls will clean easy enough. :up
 
Automotive work is AWESOME!!! I wanan do this for a living some day. I'm trying to get into a school to get certified.
 
Rhino ramps don't skid? How much do they usually run?



One nice thing about longitudinal RWD cars is the pump is (usually) easier to change. I dread the day I'll have to change mine...

Nope, no skidding. I use them for oil changes mainly. They are made of a very strong plastic type material that will hold up to 12,000 pounds. They also accept low clearance vehicles if that is a concern. I got mine at AutoZone for $29.99.



Very nice ramps for the DIY'er and the price is right too.:xyxthumbs

For real!! You should see my hubby's shop when he's working on our cars -- it definitely would not qualify as an operating room!! I'm often afraid to go in there!! :D

I bought my Rhino ramps at Walmart at about the same price. They work well on my PT Cruiser, Lincoln, Camry and Saturn but when I tried them with my daughter's Forerunner they did not work. The truck kept pushing the ramps back rather than climbing the ramp. Maybe a sand bag or something would have held the ramps in place.
 
That's a good idea. I should have taken some shots of the S4 while it was "exposed under the wrench" this weekend. The car looked like it was on life support. I had three drop cords hanging down. Two lights, one extension cord and a PC hooked up to the internet with a FAQ up on the installation of the new Xenon headlights I was installing.

Rightlane.... are the rubber feet still in place? I have used Rhino's for quite some time, and the only time I had a problem was when one of the rubber feet dropped off without me knowing. Take a look. Perhaps this is the source of the problem.

Yea, I hear ya. I do most of the work on my car myself too. It seems everytime I bring my car in, it either gets scratched (tint job), dirty (dealer maintance), or rims get knicked up (Installed new rims). Therefore, for the past year, I have done everything on the car myself because I am tired of other peoples not caring attitude.
 
Yeah, Longitudinal (RWD..some FWD) engines are easy to change water pump, I had to change the water pumpm out on my 85 Fleetwood.. it is FWD, what a pain. It takes as long to start half of the bolts than to auctually put it in.. HA

Anyone know if these Rhino Ramps will work w/ a 99+ VW Golf/GTI? I have a set of generic steel ramps that don't work w/ my GTI due to the low front bumper clearance. :(

I think that clearance wise it will work, I havent used mine much for FWD cars, I have a few times but not near as much as I have with the SS, and the SS is low. The sticker on the ramps shows them useing a new C5 vette useing them....





Also, I have had trouble with the ramps sliding out on the SS a few times, all the times it did it was when ramps were on "damp" floor, or in a spot when there was a little "tire gloss" over spray on the floor...
 
if you can't get the car on the ramp due to clearance, then go to homedepot to the wood cart that has allreadt been cut up. Take a few 5 inch long piecees and kinda make a 2 inch ramp infront of the ramp for you to get your car up. I had to do it for the stang.
