My plan is a Dawn wash, a Clay Magic app, 3M SMR, then Zaino, for my older ’92 Saab 900 in gray/silver. For the 2001 9-5, more or less the same except no SMR.

Good plans? Anything else I should consider?

Which are the “important� of the Zainos?



Also, what would be good to use for those occasional touch-ups and bird #$%@?
 
You could probably use 3M Perfect It-II or Finesse It-II instead of SMR. You might even get away with using Meguiar's #9 if your swirls are light enough. I guess it depends on how bad your swirls are.



If you've got Zaino handy then I'm sure it will look great. I'd be interested to know how you came to the decision to use Z over the other options out there? I know it looks fabulous on silver but I was wondering if you saw it on a car or had some other reason for chosing it over the other sealants that are out there. I only ask because its not as easy to find as some of the other products out there. You must be really into it to go to the effort to hunt some down.



If you do go with another product other than Z then I would suggest a carnuba wax topper after the sealant. From what I've heard about Zaino, it won't really need the topper but it wouldn't hurt to put it on that either. Everything looks better with a little carnuba on top. :xyxthumbs

Your plan is very sound. As Jngrbrdman said, unless your swirls are very light, you might want to consider using 3M's Finesse-It II.

As long as you do a proper prep, you are going to love the way Zaino looks on your Saab 900. You've made the perfect choice for that color! :xyxthumbs



As for occasional touch ups & bird dung, use Z-6. Or a cheaper alternative would be to pour a half-capful of Z-7 in a 32 ounce spray bottle full of water (just use the same bottle you used as your lubricant for claying). Keep that bottle in your trunk, along with a few MF towels so you can take care of stuff on your car as soon as you see it.
