AMD Sempron SI-40 Processor question

Hey guys, my folks want to get an extra laptop to keep around the house. Tiger Direct has a killer deal on a HP but it has the base AMD Sempron SI-40 processor.

AMD Processors for Notebooks: AMD Turion? 64 X2 Mobile Technology, AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual-Core, Mobile AMD Sempron? Processor

My question is for the computer geeks; is this sufficient if they are only going to use this for surfing the internet. There will be nothing else done with it; no gaming, developing, multi tasking, etc... Maybe they'll print a Word document or something. Mainly it will be used to surf the Internet.

I don't want it to get bogged down for some reason. It'll just have basic software like an Internet security package, Adobe Reader, MS Office, etc...

Thanks

I assume you're talking about this one.

To answer your question, yes it'll be fine for just surfing the net and doing word processing and watching videos.

If price is your only consideration, then get it.

But to me, it always feels like a waste getting the cheapest computer possible, since it'll start out as pretty behind already, and will quickly be obsolete. I suppose if all you're ever going to do is just go on the internet it's a fine computer, though. To be honest, i would pay the extra ten bucks and get a duo core processor, which should handle multitasks much better.

The good thing is that the processor is rated at only 25W, meaning it'll run very cool compared to intel's Core 2 Duos, which are rated at 65W.

Which one did you link too?

I checked other "cheap" machines and nothing else is anywhere in the price range. The next one was like $150.00 more.
