Amazon... deceptive crooks?

The only thing that I can suggest at this time is that you might have success with pleading your case with a different Amazon CSR.

Best of luck. Hopefully Amazon will issue you a one time exception.

All you need to do is make enough waves in the pool. I`m one of the very few that takes the post good reviews for people who deserve them and very rarely (Search my posts or user name) do I ever complain or post negative reviews. However when it comes to a simple morals issue like this and reading from a lot of similar experiences I want to get peoples attention.

This is the nail in the coffin for your argument. You never opted to receive the lower value, so I completely agree that they`re in the wrong. I bet someone already sold the item or already processed the camera into "sales" and they`re trying to cover their butt.

If I were you, I`d keep raising hell with a manager or supervisor until you either get the camera back or the original quoted value. Escalate it all the way to the top. Didn`t someone email the CEO of Amazon and sometimes he personally handles things?

Threatened to raise the earth (Which I didn`t like) and sure enough I got my credit. Personally after this whole experience I just wanted my camera back...

Trade in programs are usually terrible. I`ve never gotten a fair price for trading in anything anywhere.

Just as an FYI - here`s the page about canceling trade-ins:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201125710

Once your trade-in is processed, you won`t be able cancel the trade-in and request that your item be returned to you.

Guess the issue here is how fast they processed the trade in. Amazon has always been incredible in my dealings with them. Last month when I was told I`d have to pay $50 to ship something to a manufacturer for repair Amazon stepped in and refunded me the money instead. Sorry you had a bad experience.

From the call logs and email.

I received the notification email at 5:12 PM.

I called them at 5:15 PM.

Call log shows total call length was 17 mins 7 seconds, I know I notified them within the first 3 mins. Thats exactly why I said 20 mins but should have said 20 mins total from me receiving the email to getting off the phone with them.

Is that long enough to process and issue a credit?

My problem wasn`t the money, it was not being able to get my camera back. They are supposed to inform you first. I literally called less then 20 mins after receiving the email of the appraised value and they told me it was processed and done. Nothing I could do about it, for me that is pretty bad.
As I stated in my earlier reply, that is because you chose the option to accept the amount they gave you.

It`s like me calling a dealership, knowing I have a car worth 40k but also knowing they need to make money so they tell me it`s worth 35k. Then me going to the dealer to trade in and them saying oh it`s only worth 29k because of a light scratch. Then them taking the car and saying you don`t have an option, it`s ours now an by the way that 29k is only good at our dealership.
I am not defending Amazon or Noram in any way, but your trade-in is nothing like the situation you are describing in this quote. Once again, you agreed to the terms when you submitted your trade-in. There were literally 2 choices to be made...choose to accept the amount they give you if they deemed the item was not like described, or have it returned...it`s all pretty cut and dry.

In the end, I`m glad that you were able to get compensation from Amazon.

I understand that, however there is a certain point where it borders unacceptable. I selected that option thinking that they would deduct around 10%, I got hit with a value of almost 20% less. To avoid this in the future they should list a proper price parameters for conditions, not just list the appraised value. I think knowing the complete pricing structure I would have gone a different route.
