Am I right or Am I wrong here?

I agree with what you did completely. You just went on to defend your business. Obviously you do awesome work, and your price is not too high at all. I mean come on, a little dust on the side grill doesn't mean you do sloppy work.

I think you maybe did get a little too defensive, but it's not like you called out anyone on the carpet.

I thought that last comment from the moderator was pretty funny.

"The work speaks for itself, and people have different opinions on what 'quality' work is. "

I'd like to know how someone can judge "quality" work from a few pictures on the internet? I think some of these guys are just rich white collar people that expect the guy detailing their car to be some minimum wage slave.

Yeah... some people...

What cars do they drive? BMWs... and they think $300 to fix all of the abuse they put into the car is a lot ... wow. Anywho, don't let it bother you, the whole thread was started about a member who was estatic about your work and that's good for your business. As long as the customers who you work with are happy, thats all that matters.

Side note- I'm a different budman than the one on the BMW forum :)

you did get a bit defensive a a little to quick IMO but you did nuthing wroing though either.....i think that Mod. on there needs to cool it and get off his high horse....

woth that outta the way....a little of my own perspective on BMW drivers, there is 2 kinds IMO.....the first is the guys that drive BMW's becuase they appreciate the engineering that goes into a quality vehicle like that, the live for BMW and know all the ins and outs of the vehicle.....major enthusiats really..

the scond is the guys or girls who drive simply for the reason that it is a BMW and use it as a status symbol....even though BMW arent really that expensive for what u get...these are the people that want to pay to have there car detailed and look good but wont pay a decent amount for the work that goes into it cuz they have no appreciation...i think this is waht that mod is from that forum...

i hjave had both of these kinds of customers with BMW's and i will say the real enthusiasts are the easiest ones to work for...even though they may be picky and demanding, they understand the work that is involved in making there vehicle look spectacular..

I also think you got a little overly defensive, but that's a fairly minor point. I really wish you had left Autopia out of it, though.

i do not post much on forums anymore because of people on that bmw forum. Usually i just troll around and keep to myself but man this is some ********! even though i dont post, i look around on here a lot still and your work is awesome! well worth the 300 bones! those peopel are ridiculous! don't take it to heart, your work is well worth the money and you just keep dion what you're doin!

I don't think you were overly defensive,i would be the same.It is quite clear to most on this forum that you are a very talented detailer that does work to a very high standard,i think there is always going to be some guy/guy's who think they are the 'best',and therefore try and pick fault with other people's work, let it go over your head.

A more diplomatic approach in the first thread you made would have probably worked better. When you came on and showed the before and after and explained your process is how you should have approached it from the beginning and not get into it with the poster that questioned your value. Sell yourself on your merits and leave the pissing matches for those who just like to piss. Nice job on the detail by the way and the main thing is, the customer is happy.

:waxing:

yeah **** that dude. you get what you pay for plain and simple. the car looks out of this world. doesn't matter how old the car is, to make a black car swirl free is a hard thing to do.

job very well done.

Don't get too hot about it, different guys have different opinions on detailing all the time. Lots of people have posted "hey this guy did my car here are pics" after I do details and some couch jockey always says "I coulda made it gold plated", just keep doing good work and let that speak for itself. I tend not to even post in threads like that if they are related to me, it's like testifying at your own trial. :)

don't bother with e46fanatics (but i think i dont need to tell you that) :) Your work does speak for itself, it is excellent, enough said. 300 dollars is a fair price, IMO the guy got a REALLY good deal.

Don’t worry about it, that whole forum is made of kids..

You took the words right out of my mouth.

They are a bunch of clowns over there.

If you want *real* BMW advice, visit BimmerForums...The fanatics site is all about bling and CSL parts.

Online Forum Arguing = Waste of Time! Not all BMW owners or drivers are snobby, just the percentage that do make a bad image for the BMW symbol.

No one's right or wrong, just keep detailing and meet the expectations of your customer, that's all that matters.

Some people will never understand the concept of paying for quality. I wouldn't even argue with them.

+1

as long as the customer was happy with the results its all good...not worth your time to argue
