Always,always use jackstands!

There was a story about some thing that in my area a few months back. Kid jacks up moms van to change trans filter, jack gives way, mom comes out to find son trapped under van, calls 911, everything ends up ok.

I do all my own service and I am even a little leary when using stands. I always put a tire and rim underneath to make sure I won't get completely crush in the event of mechanical failure. Glad everything turned out ok for these people.

Even though I use stands, I always slide the tire and rim under the car as well..........this was one of the first things I remember my Dad teaching me when I was a teenager about jacking up a car....and I made sure I told my son....

safety first, safety always........
