Alternating Z-5P and Z-2P...

Sal states in his instructions that you can interchange his polishes, go from Z5 to Z2 then back to Z5 and again back to Z2.

What advantage or good reason is there to do this as opposed to say 3 coats of Z5 then keep layering with Z2?

Z5Pro has a different look(carnaubaish) that tends to hide micromarring-Z2Pro is a bit more reflective. Many people alternate them.

The reason is that if you notice that you still have some swirl marks on the finish that you missed after switching to the z-2, you can go back to the z-5 and remove the remaining swirl marks - then continue with the z-2 again.

Z2 is also more "optically pure" than Z5 so that if you want the clearest, most reflective shine, finish up with Z2. As already said, you can alternate to Z5 whenever there is slight micromarring, then finish with Z2 again if you desire its optical properties.

Some folks prefer the look of Z5 and just use that by itself, and never really use Z2 at all. All personal preference...

For initial hiding/filling of a finish's minor blemishes, it is best to apply multiple coats of Z5PRO with no Z2PRO intervention and top the Z5PRO multi-application with Z2PRO.

For periodic (bi-monthly) finish corrections (minor marring from washing, drying and QD'ing), it is useful to apply a coat of Z5PRO and follow with Z2PRO (if you wish).

Both Z5PRO and Z2PRO are equally optically clear. The difference is that Z2PRO has a different ratio and types of paint gloss enhancers.
