Well, as someone who actually watched Evel try to get over the canyon on CCTV, I can relate to that, but the quote I was actually referring to was this:

It really doesn't matter. What I don't get is you guys are all such a happy family over at TID, along with most of the banned members on the "reinstatement list". Isn't that enough? None of us "fans" are over there. I'm sure you can get RTexasF and I to promise not to join. This reminds me of the whole DClub thing, even when you guys had your own place you still wanted to make trouble over here.

Christ man grow up. All you have done in this thread is cry like a little girl. (no offense to the ladies here.) I can't figure out why you are so butt hurt over some members of this forum who are also members of other forums.

"Forum participation is essential for community growth"

Good words but not necessarily always true especially when it comes to a forum about detailing, which I would consider an art.

I lurk a lot on this forum since I almost know nothing compared to the pros and I would always read the writeups etc. ANd I am pretty sure I'm not the only one doing this lol.

Like I’ve said before Mike, you are truly filled with inconceivable hatred... You’re forgetting that you paid homage to a member of the banned list for several years here by wearing his name/screen name in your signature line.

Inconceivable hatred? Get real. And that was an homage to my own grumpiness, not to Ketch.

I stayed out of this thread until it was suggested that some members are less entitled to an opinion because they don't "help" enough or start enough threads.

Whatever. If you guys think that having Mr. Cut & Paste Robot and Mr. "I've never used a machine and I'm darn proud of it--what is clay?" back is going to improve the forum, then I'm all for it.

Hey, I too paid to see ol Evil try to jump the Snake River Canyon. Big fan back in the day and I had to work many hours on the tobacco farm to get that ticket, and then find a ride to Raleigh to watch it. I sure was pissed to see they showed the jump on the news that night for free.

Who said I wanted to be one. :nana:

Well you mouthed off to me a couple times in other threads about being a troll and not contributing anything. Sure sounds like you think your an asset.

Scott did everything by hand when he first started posting here and now he's mastered a rotary. This forum improved Scott and can improve others.

:LOLOL Not so sure Frank was that open to learning new techniques but he did have the business side down pretty good.

Anyone with an open mind is going to learn something every time they come here.

Why do a large majority of opinion threads turn into pissing contests between the same individuals? Makes me wonder about the maturity of those involved and while I'm only 25 years old, I feel like I'm walking into the middle of a freshman argument in the hall between lunch and study hall. Grow up and move on. It's the internet and you're suppose to be men and some of you fathers I'm assuming, pretty said IMO that you hide behind your keyboards and lash out at one another in such a childish manner.

In regards to the banned members, bring em back with the exception of those who did nothing but spam and add to bad fellowship. That's just my .02

Sheesh, I take a winter siesta, and I miss all the excitement.

For the most part, I agree with the list David made, but there are a few names that I really don't. Especially one, and I'm sure David knows exactly which one that is. Ah well, at least he was fun to laugh at... er.. I mean with.

Sure, let them all back. Just as long as those that don't behave are shown the door again.

So who are the mods around these parts now?

Can someone point me to the thread that explains DavidB's departure, and a bit about the new owners?

Edit: Just read a bit of this thread, and had to say...

Anyone that takes offense to Setec's grumpiness needs to learn a bit more about the guy. He's one of those hard shelled, grumpy types that would give you the shirt off his back. He's also one *very* intelligent individual.

Which brings us to David F. David is one helluva detailer, that will call anyone out when something doesn't sound right. He's also big enough to admit when he's wrong, although he isn't wrong very often.

Both guys are incredible assets to the community. 'Nuff said.

Watching detailing pros claw each other's eyes out on this forum make me grateful that I don't hang out in forums for my own profession.

You guys need to go see Sex and the City 2 and hug it out.

I can do without the name-calling and WWF-type bashing that went on in the past.

My "fear" is that letting some (notice, some) of the past-banned individuals will lead to this again. I'm not into reading the "Jerry Springer" Autopia comments, although some might call it "entertaining" until the Mods stepped in.

If you've been around this forum as long as I have, you know all about the "he said this about this product", "bring back that post about relabeling", "that detailer is a hack".

I don't mind the new owners banning certain products or people promoting them. They are paying for this site and it's their right to do so. I'm just hoping they stay "neutral" on that subject and that this forum retains the good people, their advice, and the products they use as it has in the past.

I've spent alot of time reading and learning on this forum, the OP (David Fermani) being one of my most-respected posters on this forum. I am not sure offering amnesty to past offenders is a good idea, but I am reminded to "Forgive, even as as you are forgiven"

Thats Great!

Is this thread still relevant? I haven't been here all that long, but one thing I've really enjoyed about this message board is the civility I've seen here. I've belonged to dozens of message boards over the years (mainly car / motorcycle / music related) and I can't even tell you the kinds of ego flare ups, arguments over engine oils, and downright flamewars I have seen (and admittedly, been a part of). I'd say a good 98% of the respondents in threads (even to newb questions, of which I have had many myself) have been incredibly helpful and nice, albeit with some semi-sarcastic good-natured teasing, where as on other boards the thread starter would have gotten flamed by 3 different people for not searching first. Granted I spend most of my time in the CAR DETAILING & FINISH CARE sub-forums (with the exception of the awesome Good Deals forum :xyxthumbs ) so maybe I'm not seeing where all the conflict takes place. But from my experiences on other boards, it could be in the off-topic forum--I guess it's called the Hot Tub here, I don't spend any time there.

Long story short, being that this is one of the most mellow and helpful community message boards I'd ever belonged to, I'd say if you're stupid enough to receive a perma-ban, you should stay banned. I hope warnings are given first, and if they are and you continue to be a jerk and get banned, you should stay gone. But that's just my opinion.
