Somebody call Meguiars and find out? I agree those paint jobs are all one of a kinds im sure those contestants could use any decent product and get good results.

<strong class='bbc'>It seems like Zymol would be something talked about at Autopia, considering 8 oz of some of their waxes go for hundreds of dollars. I did a search on Zymol, and most people seem to talk about it negatively. Why is that? How is their $110 glass of Estate wax not up to Autopian standards? Surely someone here has tried the basic Carbon or Creme wax for around $40.[/b]</blockquote>The fact that a wax costs several hundred (or thousand) dollars does not necessary mean that it is good. I cannot comment on the Zymol waxes as I have not used them. I am pretty satisfied with my $15 Blitz wax though.

It's definetely a "niche" product. It will give you a good shine, but for an insanely short period of time, and only on "pristine" paint finishes. Zymol is not worth any price to me, and anybody who uses it (especially the expensive stuff) and tries to justify that 1K price must have money to burn, Zymol is like a REALLY bad stock investment. The "Kmart" line does not help them at all either.

It's mostly in the paint job. A quality paint job looks killer, with no wax products on top. Look at this panel that was freshly painted......it's still in the box! looks awesome.

Hi,

I'm new to the board and was sent here by Guitarman. We both have Ford SuperCoupes we're trying our best to take care of.

Very nice forum, and I've learned a lot already by reading the posts the last few weeks.

I've also tried Zymol Cleaner Wax and have found it to be a nice product and fairly simple to use. The smell is awesome! LOL.

I do like it best on my daily driver truck, though, and have had better results with the Meguiar's #7 and #26 on the car.

Perhaps one reason the Zymol Estate Wax is SO expensive is that is comes with a lifetime refill. Yes/no?

The last time I was on their website, this was so. Project those costs out over 20 years or more and that $1,000 price tag isn't as bad.

Phil

[edit] Just checked. Lifetime refill for the Vintage Glaze.

$1402.50 Yikes!

Yes, the Zymol Clear is a great car wash. I beleive that it does replenish the wax to a degree as all of my family's cars hold wax for a long time (I am in Mass and most of them are parked in the garage). It is not sudsy (sp), but it cleans. It almost is like putting water over the car, sponge or mitt glides across the car surface not on it. You use very little per wash. Off the top of my head I would say the 8oz bottle lasts about 25 plus car washes. While Zymol is not a professional detailers choice of product, it works very well for the small hobby/detailer that I am. Try some out, I think you will be pleased with it. Good luck. [/b]</blockquote>
I intend to eventually. For now, I can't. I'm way too overstocked on many items...including various carnauba waxes. I must admit though that the price tag alone on Zymol is making me want to try it out even more. Perhaps I'll try out their HD Cleanse, Zym Clear, and one of their waxes sometime.

Thanks for the info T.C.

You need to think laterally. What does John T do with all the old $350 T-shirts? At 8 a day that is enough for us all to have the highest priced T-shirts for detialing!

That sounds like a good credo for detailers: Think laterally, detail longitudinally :D

BTW, Michael - hope you've not been affected by the fires. My brother lives in the Snowy Mountains and they are starting to see smoke over there

Getting back to Zymol:

I tried the cleaner wax, and while the shine was excellent, it was a pain in the butt to apply-left dark streaks everywhere, so I had to go back over my entire car with a QD to get rid of them[/b]</blockquote>
EXACTLY! I have been looking for someone else who had this same problem! So what exactly is a "QD"? Can you please explain how you removed the dark streaks?

Thanks a MILLION!
