anyone have any experience?



We just picked up a sweet 421C (in pre-buy right now) and the paint is a little faded but looks servicable...I would like to attempt to bring it back and am wondering if anyone has ever done this?
 
Be careful, its not like car paint! Im an aircraft tech, they use alumigrip paint on factory cessnas, good stuff but not as hard as auto paint



Sweet airplane, is that a Golden Eagle 421?
 
I was at the Naval Air Station / Atlanta last week and really wanted to detail one of these.....



I would have done it for free.

For those who may not know, this is the Lockheed-Martin F-22 Advanced Tactical Fighter. Currently in production at the LM Manufacturing facility in Atlanta.



I see these planes daily when I'm at the job site..........



That is one bad boy.

FalconGuy- that’s what I use on our Cessna 152 (and what most others use on small planes)



Luster- I have some projects at NAS Jacksonville, Florida. There are EA6b, F-14 and F18s that need to be cleaned if your interested LOL

And All I get to play with anymore at work is our Flight Simulators..... They are fun, like a 10 million dollar video game, but not the same
 
well, we just got the pre-buy list back from the FBO and there are a lot of minor squawks but nohting huge...the biggest thing si that the de-icing boots trip the breaker after a few cycles so we will see....preparing the final paperwork to go back to the seller now
 
The Cyclo orbital polisher is a must have. They (cyclo) have some aircraft polishes developed for their machine you should try too. Nuvite also has very nice products for certain aspects of paint restoral.



Remember to always shut that forward cargo hatch!!!!! It'll kill ya. Good luck.
 
I work for FlightSafety, kind of makes me think that way alot sorry...... Its a great plane good luck with it. What are you going to be using it for?
 
No worries Falcon...Main use is for business travel however I am a quck hop from Rocky Point and San Carlos Mexico so that will always be a factor
 
Currently I am servicing 3 planes right now. Cessena 182, A36 Bonanza and Turbo Bonanaza. There is no clear coat on most planes there for it is almost im possible to remove scratches because you are removing the paint too. For airplanes the hardest part are the bellies of them because the exhaust let out is down there and there is so much grease it takes for ever. A nice citrus cleaner works incredible on this. High wing air planes are hard to get all the spot, bring ladders!! For the windows most are not glass, most a plexiglass so poslishing these can get scratches out. Normally I wash them with Meg Gold Class and follow up with a nice cleaner wax. Depending on the age and condition of the plane you can either follow up with a pure wax and or something along the lines of NXT(works great on planes too) Be prepared for scrubbing bugs. Think hitting a bug at 60 mph on the highway is hard to get off? Try 180. Constatnt care of the spinner with with muliple coats of polish on it keeps it looking nice if it is a chrome one. Remember planes are flown in the worst condition then store outside for long periods times or a dust filled hanger.
 
After over 14 years of detailing cars we are breaking into aircraft.
