AIO+P21s Paint Lotion+UPP...did I goof?

Hi All...

So, be honest, did I waste time doing this combo? I love how the P21s makes the paint silky smooth, but the UPP does not seem to bond well with it at all, or so it seems. Maybe I'm just freaking out.

I did the entire truck with the final step of the process above...UPP first coat, which was longer than the recommended 15-minutes by the time I got back around to buff by hand, trust me! ;o) Whew...

Can I assume that this was a bad combo? Seems most folks here that use these do something like AIO then directly to UPP. The UPP is pretty tough coming off b/c it seems to smear, etc. I can't get it all off! It's gotta wait until morning, I'm too tired now....yes, it was a late night detail, the only time I had!

Please set me on the correct path! Also, is there any recommendation for topping the P21s lotion, I love that stuff?

Thank you, thank you, thank you for any advise! I love this place, it has made me a true detailing addict. I love my truck and no one else touches it...you guys are the reason, I blame it all on you! Thanks! :bigups

Yes P21s Paint lotion will cause bonding issue for UPP. This is because the lotion contains oils and fillers which UPP cannot bond to. I would wash the truck and AIO then follow with the UPP. AIO followed by UPP is one of my favorite combos.

Just as I suspected. Thanks, Eric! That's what I am going to do this morning.

Any suggestions for topping the P21s lotion? Or is that more a carnuba wax-type base?

Thanks again Eric! I really appreciate you confirming my thoughts on this one.

Carnuba is the way to after the P21s lotion.

Eric

Thanks for confirming that, tubafreak. Just as I thought. I'll get some carnuba wax and top the p21s with that, if I want to go that way, thanks Eric.

BTW, I did get the AIO out this morning and then directly put on the UPP after. MUCH better! :dancin I'll post pics as soon as I get them downloaded from the camera.

I look forward to seeing the pictures. How many coats of UPP do plan on using?

Eric

Took some pics on Sat. after the 1st coat of UPP, did another coat yesterday and hope for a 3rd coat this evening. Will post them tonight, hopefully.

As promised, here are some pics. These are the ones from yesterday with the UPPx2. None of the other ones came out very good and the 3rd coat will need to wait...

Oh well, I think that it looks pretty good, for now that is! :headbang

Thanks again for the help!
