Consumers have had a tough time trying to buy ammunition for the past couple of years yet the government plans to destory 1.2 Billion dollars worth of ammo. Seriously, one branch of the military can't see what the other has in surplus, sad.

Obviously the average guy isn't buying mortars and missiles but if this is actually small arms ammunition people should be upset.

Wasn't the current Administration a couple years ago (?) making it harder for the Ammo manufacturers to secure brass, in order to try to cut down the number of guns and ammo ?

This is why some think the military needs to control its spending but seems if you are opposed to waste you are unpatriotic.

I don't know if they made it hard for the manufactures to get brass. One thing they did do is buy up large quantities of common calibers making the public stand in line to buy run of the mill ammunition. .22 cal is still tough to find and I don't think the government uses much of that. Sad days.

Yes .22 is very hard to find. People are hoarding too. It is not like a 22 is some assault rifle.
 
It ain't nothing new, at the end of WWII - the Navy burned dozens of PT boats rather than try to maintain them. Shoot, I know my uncles would have pooled some cash together and bought one.
 
Here's the real story. The Government finally figured out the the citizens had more ammo stockpiled than they did. After this Nevada thing they are finding out that the citizens aren't afraid of them.
 
For the last 2 years, they have also been trying to legislate that consumer ammo only has a viable life of 1 year.

So it's just the government trying to limit out access to guns and ammo. Look at what's happening in CT now.
 
It's not just ammo that has me all worked up but these bonuses at the IRS to dead beat employees. The private sector is paying for their medical, vacations, retirement and it goes on and on. Who is paying for all the people working in the private sector ?. These employees are public servants and the public is being taken to the cleaners. All of this is just a drop in the bucket of gripes with the government.
