If you were to take home a used car that is in decent shape,



What would you do to get it into Autopian shape?



Preliminary steps I think would be a Dawn wash and clay bar treatment then a regular soft wash. Vacuum the interior, shampoo the carpet, dress the tires, clean the vinyl/leather, and protect with 303 Protectant.



From there light agitation of the paint with some kind of polish



Klasse AIO

3 Layers of Klasse SG

2 Layers of S100 to Top it off



Does this sound about right?



Maybe you could add CD-2 on the engine as another step.



Lastly - what is that GEPC I see every now and then stand for?
 
GEPC stands for Gloss Enhancing Paint Cleanser. Its just a mild polish and paint cleaner. It may take out minor swirls a little better than AIO will but AIO will clean better. Its up to you if you want to use it.



That system sounds pretty good. Obviously you would want to hit the interior with all kinds of products. I think 303 is a good one for the dash. There are a dozen products you could use. This is my list for what I would use on a car if it just rolled out of a used car dealership:



Wash: Meguiar's Gold Class

Clay: Clay Magic

Bugs & Sap: Turtle Wax bug and tar remover (yellow can)

Polish: Meguiar's DACP (usually)

Sealant: Klasse & Platinum

Wax: P21S, Souveran, Pinnacle Paste Glaz, One Grand Blitz (depends on the color)

Glass: Invisible Glass or Advanage concentrate

Tires: Meguiar's Endurance

Wheels: Eagle A2Z (new formula)

Engine: CD2 Engine detail kit and Advanage concentrate

Carpet: Prestone foaming carpet cleaner and Advanage concentrate

Dash: 303 protectant and maintain with Swiffer towels

Leather: Platinum leather conditioner

Air Freshener: Ozium New Car Smell

QD: Platinum Gloss Enhancer or Final Inspection

Towels: Microfiber for everything. Waffle weave for drying and the 16x16 for buffing.
 
Jngr, that list should be a sticky at the top of Autopia University. That would take care of a lot of newbie questions right off the bat! :xyxthumbs
 
You forgot something to clean the tires. :D Eagle One or Mothers Tire cleaners are good, though A2Z works well too. :up
