Advice on polishing/waxing white car

Hey guys, I need some advice on bringing my white P71 to shine.

I bought a glaze, carnuaba wax and polish.

I also tried the Nufinish product. But it doesn't seem to work good.

Now, I will buy a machine if its going to help.

I tried by hand, but it doesn't seem to bring out a good shine. I don't know if its clear coat, or single stage.

There is one panel, that is dull, and I tried nufinish on it, but it brings up to a redish tint to the white?

Its also a pain to see what you are doing on the car, each product I apply, it doesn't show, so I can't tell if its wiping/smearing/ going on or off?

What should I do? and what products should I try?

Its a 2004.

Ya, I tried scratch X as well.

Any modifications to your Crown Vic?

I was thinking of adding a supercharger?

Wait a little while and I'll be able to tell ya what works...my P73 (yeah...but it has P71 springs/steering/hoses) is white and oughta be coming back from the shop one of these days...or weeks...or months :o

Yeah, it'll help immensely! Get the Griot's 6" random orbital, but be prepared to by a smaller backing plate so you can use smaller (more effective due to less friction) pads.

Unless it's an *old* boxy one, or has been poorly repainted, it'll be basecoat/clearcoat and the clear is usually pretty thick as long as it hasn't been hammered by somebody already.

Well, that's weird  but I don't know from NuFinish. The factory primer isn't red BTW, so it shouldn't be related to that.

That just *is* a PIA. Gotta have good lighting, and sometimes the "see stuff to know what you're doing" lights and the "see the paint's condition"/inspection lights will have to be different. Work methodically so you *know* where you've done what even if you can't easily *see* it.

Same old general response I seem to give everybody- try some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or M105. Follow with Scratch-X v2.0 or M205.

Posting this makes me want to call my mechanic in FLA and bug him to get my car back to me!

This reminds me, I want to start an "Autopia Pather Platform" thread one of these days....

White is tough to gaze in sun light. I see all the spots I missed on my white car when I go to the grocery store after sunset. Those parking lot lights reveal everything!!! Try keeping some high quality microfiber cloths and some "quick detailer" or something to touch up the stubborn spots when you see them in the dark.

My fave substitute for parking lot lights is an incandescent light, even just a bare lightbulb works OK.
