advantage with 4" pad?

On a PC, a 4 inch pad is more aggressive than a larger pad(they get less aggressive as they grow given it's the same kind of pad) and will remove defects faster.

1) it concentrates the work/energy of the PC so it is more agressive and better capable to remove defects

2) allows access to tigher spaces or more intricate shapes/geometries

3) easier to control than larger pads

Smaller surface of the pad means your pressure applied will more localized.

Basically, it will heat faster and remove more swirls. Used with OHC, I can remove nearly anything my rotary can with an orange 4" pad on speed 6. The only time I need a rotary is for heavy compounding of severe scratches. Never on a whole car :)

I have found that the PC with a 4" pad will massage the paint to perfection.

Thats kind of what I discovered. I used a 4" LC orange pad w/ ohc/op mix to remove some scratches on the trunk. Worked about half of the trunk and the results were phenominal. I now want to continue with what i used on that section on the whole car to get rid of the remaining swirling that never came out from its original detail, but didnt know if people are using 4"ers on a full car. Right now I only have an orange and black pad. I'll have to pick up a few more.

I have 3 Orange 4" pads, and I used all 3 and wanted more to do a full truck! I have since ordered 9 more Orange 4" pads, and 3 White, 3 Black.

I also find the 4" orange pads with OHC leaves a nearly LSP ready finish! A quick pass with OP on a 6.5" pad and the truck was perfection! From start to finish, including interior, it took 7 hours and I got $240.

Definitly the best way to go IMHO!

I love the smaller pads! I find they transmitt alot less vibration into you hands, they also fit into containers of paste wax nicely
