Additions to the Acrynom List - Poll

Several days ago I posted up a thread on the confusion many of us are having over some new products on the market and those soon to join the market.



These new products are applied like our traditional quick detailers but they are designed to be stand alone toppers or sealers.



Products like Optimum's Car Wax and I believe Menzerna Acrylic spray and Zaino's Z2(?) not only boost a previous waxed or sealed finish but they also might be used as stand alone toppers.



So to clarify the issue many have suggested we give these new types of "qd's" a name of their own.

Im going with QP. No learning curve. Tell someone one time what it means, and it will stick.

I still can't figure out what FWIW means. I didn't see it in the acronym list.

I like QP. It's similar in spelling to QD, so it makes sense that it would be a similar type of product.

I can see the disagreements already with whats a QP, and whats a QD !! Throw in FS CQW (Four Star Carnauba Quick Wipe) to the stand alone topper.

I was leaning more to the SEP, the more I think about it.



They are really not designed to clean the surface, although I am sure light surface dust is no problem, but their main purpose is to seal.



I can see where QD and QP will get confusing:nixweiss

While coming up with a new acronym, maybe we should keep in mind that it is hard to search for two letter acronyms... I know the * trick, but that's a little klunky to me.

QLSP was to be used in tandem with the other acronyms I came up with as shown below to distinguish between the different types of QDs. The problem with QP is does that mean it has cleaning capabilites or not.



QDN - quick detail cleaner with no protection

QDP - quick detail cleaner with protection

QLSP- quick LSP - does not clean, just protects



Of course I voted for QLSP

How would you describe the difference between a SEP and a QP? Meguiars Last Touch for example has carnauba in it so could be classed QP, but you can also use it as a quick detailer to get rid of light dirt as well so could also be classed as SEP.



Personally I think SEP and QP are too close to each other and not distinguishable enough, which is why I came up with what I did:



QD - used to describe "traditional" quick detailing products. i.e. ones that remove dust and light soiling but don't really add any protection/shine to the finish (Meguiars Quik Detailer comes to mind).



SGE - Shine/Gloss Enhancer. Used to describe those products that can be used either to remove dust and light soiling, or used after washing that add a boost to the shine/gloss (funnily enough) whilst doing so. (I'd class both Poorboy's QD+ and Spray and Gloss as these).



LSPB - Last Step Product Booster - used to describe a product that needs to be used on a clean car to add an intermediate layer of protection between full details. Products such as NXT spray wax.



You could substitute LSPB for QLSP, but like C-Man says, there need to be a few more categories to get all products covered. In fact, Ithink C-Man has hit the nail on the head with his acronyms.
